walking wounded

saw another young man this weekend at the mall. there with his 4-yr-old son playing on the mall playground. the man was about 10 years younger than me, it seemed. big, burly guy. brush cut, clean cut, fit and trim. walking on crutches, his left leg gone at the hip.
i see more of these young men every day around here. pennsylvania, i've read, has an inordinant percentage of its citizens fighting in the war. some 20-30k wounded now, i think. there are a dozen listed in our local church bulletin alone.
and i didnt show up for the anti war march in town on saturday because i had to put a new battery in our car. i even fucked that up.
tony soprano is probably dead.
george bush is in cleveland today. another marine soldier will die.
dead dead dead or worse. everything is dead dead dead or worse.
