Sports Teams as Gang Rapists

The essence of sports has been revealed. I have long maintained that the internal nature of sports is violence and the recent events at the University of Duke have confirmed this theory.

Although the facts are not yet all in, and it is important that the legal procedures run their course, it has been alleged that a college sports team organized a team party at which they hired a stripper and raped her.

What is a sports team if not a gang without guns? Instead of uzis, they carry around lacross stix. Given the character of organized violence in which they are trained as athletes, it is the responsibility of the schools to teach the kids the value of human rights and dignity and lawful behavior. Whenever there is a collossal failure of morality, as seems to be the case here, not only the culprits but also the school administration is to blame.

i think any point you're trying to make is destroyed by your hyperbole. the essence of sports isnt limited to lacrosse. swimmers dont carry anything like uzis. skiiers arent violent.

lots of people are raped and murdered every day. i would suspect that the number of sports teams who gang rape someone is pretty small.

I don't think this is so much a symptom of sports as it is a symptom of contemporary human behavior, upbringing, and development, with a bit of mob mentality thrown in.

I support sports. Competition is healthy and an excellent motivation for learning and training.

Some people who can throw a baseball are excluded from doing so. And others choose not to out of respect for them. The oppression of women is symbolized by the baseball / softball distinction. Which admittedly, is not as severe as the football / cheerleader division but it is significant nonetheless.

Sports are the devils work, designed to ensnare the bodies and minds of youngsters io the machine of organized killing which is society's military system. Sports are simply a component of all that.

sports may be *bent* for such evil uses by evil people, but in themselves they are innocent. This ain't sports, it's people.
