In Israel and Judah before and around the time of Christ, they expected a divine warrior, descending from heaven to open up a can of angelic army whupass on the enemies of God. Listening to most of the assertions of dispensationalism about the Second Coming, I have to agree with Ambassador Ayalon...there's pretty much no difference. Pre-trib, post-trib, whatever...most Christians seem to have the same essential cosmology as the pre-Jesus Judeans.
