A while ago, there was a post regarding the lack of anti-war songs for the current war(s), etc. So in the general defense of my generation, and in no particular order, I present the following (the links are for the full lyrics):
System of a Down : Boom!
Why do we kill our own child?
Boom. Boom. Boom.
Everytime you drop a bomb
You kill the God your child has born.

Anti-Flag: 911 For Peace
I don’t wanna die
(I don’t wanna kill)
I don’t wanna kill
(I don’t wanna die)
We are all human
It’s time to prove it

Dopkick Murphys: Far Away Coast (This is more of a “We support our troops, but war still sucks)
Sail away to a place that’s alone
Taken away from my friends and my home
To a place they call sacred
A place I call hell
I long for that corner I once knew so well

The Redwalls: The Glory of War
I guess some men been born to die
cause livin' wasnt up to them
So though we're all born as brothers
living just to kill each other
This is the glory of war...

Flogging Molly: Screaming At The Wailing Wall
So God how come every wrong's been done?
With deals no Christ should allow
Once the communist now the terrorist
With blood as thick as yours
Now a caravan of clouds
Warns us all of winter showers
Then rattle comes the rain
With each bullet screams your name
So how come this gatherin' storm
Pours little on the truth?
Where the smokin' gun's a familiar
song let loose
With the bombed out cars
Come the falling stars
From a heaven we'll never know
And the nameless names
On the misspelled graves grow tall
We're still screamin' at the Wailing Wall

The Killers: All These Things That I've Done
I've got soul, but I'm not a soldier
http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/killers/ ... edone.html
Angels and Airwaves: The War
And the houses
Laid out like targets
With the deafening sound
We watched them all go down
And the families
Now useless bodies
They lay still black and blue
A gift from us to you
http://www.plyrics.com/lyrics/angelsand ... hewar.html
John Mayer: Waiting On The World To Change
Now if we had the power
To bring our neighbors home from war
They would have never missed a Christmas
No more ribbons on their door
And when you trust your television
What you get is what you got
Cause when they own the information, oh
They can bend it all they want

Jurassic 5 featuring Dave Matthews: Work It Out
Just watch the music video. You won’t regret it.

There are, of course, a lot more, but I think that this is a sufficient amount to show that the tradition of the anti-war song is alive and well.
Current Anti-War Songs
welll.......IIIIIIIIIII... I don't wanna be a soldier mamma
I don't wanna dieeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!
thanks for the links!!
To sing is great!. I remember when almost everybody I knew in the eighties also knew more or less the same songs!. That was great, and maybe a teenage phenomeno too.
Some songs very popular among young people about war and militares from that ages:
Botas locas (Sui Generis)
I love direct songs, but sometimes literature/songs lyrics use the not too conscious indirect way, that's great too!!!
