Internet Search Yields Names Cited in U.N. Draft Resolution

When the State Department recently asked the CIA for names of Iranians who could be sanctioned for their involvement in a clandestine nuclear weapons program, the agency refused, citing a large workload and a desire to protect its sources and tradecraft.
Frustrated, the State Department assigned a junior Foreign Service officer to find the names another way -- by using Google. Those with the most hits under search terms such as "Iran and nuclear," three officials said, became targets for international rebuke Friday when a sanctions resolution circulated at the United Nations.

Did A Lone Rabbi Mean to Ban Christmas Trees?
Posted by: Michael Medved at 11:56 PM

...he'll add it to his listing of why the jews are evil.

And then, of course, there was this ...
A first for America...The Koran replaces the Bible at swearing-in oath

If we wanted too, we could spend every minute of our days getting and keeping our knickers knotted up over things – and people do – especially in the area of their enthusiasm over their religions.

~ugh~

It beats me,
the rabbi's lawyer made a mistake.
well there it is.
After two months of indecision from the Port of Seattle (the quasi-governmental agency that runs the airport) concerning the request for a menorah, the rabbi’s lawyer made the mistake (yes, it was a mistake) of threatening a federal lawsuit and the airport people panicked and ordered the removal of the trees. “We’re not in the business of offending anyone and we’re not eager to get into a federal lawsuit with anyone,” said Craig Watson, chief lawyer for the Port of Seattle. Patricia Davis, head of the Port Commission said, “We didn’t have other cultures represented and rather than scramble around to find representations of other cultures at this late date, we decided to take them down and consider it later.”
That bit about swearing on the Bible,
here is some background on Wildman
It is clear that Donald Wildmon’s AFA will remain one of the country’s leading censorship groups for many years to come. With a budget of $7 million in 1992, the AFA is still a formidable adversary. Moreover, with the addition of advisers like the CDL’s Swindell and Bull, Wildmon’s organization is more sophisticated than most of its competitors. But Wildmon appears to be losing credibility with his intended targets. Once individuals and companies begin ignoring his threats, it will be only a matter of time before the country discovers that Donald Wildmon is the leader of a very small army.

Hey its a living.

Yeah the preachers do get my panty hose in a knot. I wish the rabbi's lawyer had sued the federal government to take away the tax exemption for any pastor who pulls down more than two million dollars a year in salary, like john hagee, maybe it was only 1.7 million but it was a lot.
I have met some preachers I respect, But I have never seen one on the Trinity Broadcasting Network that I have respected. Wildman another media bimbo.

Yes the xmas incident at seatac is fodder for the anti watchmahcallits.

unrelated tangentenial ramble
Listening to my new dog snoring, nothing to do with nothing but it cheers me up

I been cleaning out Mz Polly's apartment, she won't be coming home again. I got some christmas lights hung them today, I also got a dog, now it turns out he is 14 years old, pekineese, he is a gourmet, I may have to raise my standard of living. Check it out down on the cat house, I could use some advice if you know anything about dogs,

First time in twenty six years I have had a furry four footed pal. I know he is going to break my heart, assuming I outlive him. You have no idea how viscious he is about his stuff. I leave his toys alone. laughing.

I used to have a problem with 9/11 conspiracy sites, it did not seem to bother anyone but me the stuff on some of the back pages of those websites.

Talk about sick, it is a good thing I am not a Canadian.

Mistakes were made on all sides. Mistakes made on assumptions. Further complicated by the mistakes of silence and then the knee jerk reactions: taking out all the trees was a fear/anger based 'one-size-fits-all' legal over reaction/response to someone asking to "... to install an eight-foot menorah and have a public lighting ceremony" at the public airport and if you don't let me I'll sue you attitude handled lawyer to lawyer! (an 8 foot menorah? how tall were the trees! - and lawyers tend to live a world all their own)

See the thing is – "Christmas" trees are seasonal trees, winter trees, most of the time referred to as xmas trees. A large majority of people, non-Christian people (such as myself, and Calvin and a large number of my friends) use the word “Christmas” to speak of/identify the season – not the religion.

Trees are not exclusively Christian. Nativity scenes are exclusively Christian. It's the use of the word 'christmas' to describe the trees that adds to the confusion; but it's simply using a 'brand' name in place of an item instead of saying the item itself: such as saying please hand me a "kleenex" instead of saying please hand me a tissue or please make a xerox instead of please make a copy.

And unless there had been a lighting ceremony for large Nativity scene being displayed at the airport; or held a lighting ceremony with prayers and such for the xmas trees … then the Rabb's request to light an 8 foot menorah was a "special request" - and the airport was free to say yeah or nay without it having anything to do with religion.

Trees are non-secular - embraced by all and exclusively belonging to none. Christians, Pagans/Wiccans, Buddhists, Atheists, those who celebrate Kwanzee – and yes even some Jewish folks (in the USA) in honor of the season have and do put up 'christmas' trees.

It's the erroneous assumption made by the Rabbi that xmas trees are (mean) exclusive “Christian” decorations, and his erroneous assumption that there had been some sort of “Christian” religious ceremony held for the trees at the airport that (imo) the lawyers for the airport should have focused on and responded to his request – instead first giving himt he silent treatment, followed with the knee-jerk, angry “I'll show you (!) typical lawyer to lawyer response” that happened.

The background on Wildman was most interesting!

...

And now off to read more about your new dog buddy (congrats!) in the Laurie's column.

When all elected officials take their oaths of office with their hands on the very same book, they all affirm that some unifying value system underlies American civilization.
Um, yeah. Its called the Constitution. You know, its people just like this that really turn me off of Christianity. Hypocritical, self-righteous bullshit.

Not the mention the absence of anything resembling logic.
