President Barack Obama

Post by izeveryboyin » January 16th, 2007, 9:53 pm

I'm delirous with glee and too excited to even explain to those of you who somehow don't know about this genuius of a man exactly who he is and what he stands for, suffice it say that he is the senator of my state, my favorite senator in fact (and not just due to geographical bias) and he most hopefully will be the first black president (even though technically he's mixed b/c his mother is white and his father is a native of Africa). Find info on him and the video announcing his candidacy right here
hopefully I'll get you guys to jump on the Obama bandwagon early if you haven't already.

That is the way I felt in 1960. I could not vote yet but JFK was my hero. Turns out that it was like Johnny I hardly knew ya.

I would vote for him in a heart beat. I hope he runs. I read a columist who thinks he sould wait until 2012, but I would like to see him run in 2008 for the good of the party.

There are critics out there who say he needs to wait until 2012 b/c they think he lacks experience, but if they really paid attention the monumental amount of things he has accomplished in his short time in politics, I doubt they'd feel obligated to keep it up. Besides that, this country is ready for change, it needs it. And I couldn't think of a better candidate to do just that.

It is all different now
I mean the primaries and the conventions
It hardly ever goes past the first ballot anymore
It used to take days for the parties to select their candidates.
Now the conventions are a dog and pony show
Everybody knows who the nominees will be

So much of it seems to come down to who has the most money. Maybe it was always that way. But it didn't seem like it back in the old days. It used to be about dirty deals done in smoke filled back rooms. Now it is dirty deals done right out in the open, but still plenty of smoke being blown.

I like Gore too. I would like to see him run too, or get on the Obama wagon.
Maybe Gore would make a good running mate. Or visa versa.
I hope Obama takes a shot at it in 2008. I think he will be around forty, that sounds like a ripe old age to me. JFK hardly had Obama's experience I think he was the youngest man ever elected as of 1960.

But The senate has not been kind to presidential candidates. It seems like Govenors have been the ones who have dominated in the past thrity years, Carter, Regan, Clinton, Bush, I forget if there were anymore. Bush 41 the exception I think.

Run Obama run.

Obama is 45, but he has a youthful spirit and sense of innovation that I think will carry this country far. Politics in general involves dirty deals in smoke-filled back rooms. It's the American way, what can you do? I think Gore's a good guy, but I definitely wouldn't want him to come in and knock Obama out of the running. I want him as president, not vice-president and I honestly don't think Gore would be willing to campaign as vice president this time around. He made it obvious that he was interested in having the president's chair 7 years ago. I doubt he'll settle for second banana, but honestly, if he beat out Obama for the Democratic candidacy, then I'd vote for him. Hell, better him than Hilary Rodham Clinton, who, contrary to popular belief, is very unlike her husband.

Yeah me too
Then we impeach Hillary and Obama moves up.

Geez Deb she just ain't no bill clinton
I would have more respect for her if she had stayed a Goldwater Girl.

I don't want nobody that voted for that bloody war. Boxer voted against it so did 20 other senators. Lets face it Hillary went along with it to get along.
If she is that stupid to believe the lies they were putting down she ain't the one for me.

Barbara Boxer voted against the war, what did she know that Hillary did not?

But you know it is going to take some money, at least a hundred million dollars they say. I don't know if Obama can raise that much money. Howard Dean showed what could be done with grass roots fund raising on the net. Maybe Barak can do it. I sincerly hope so.

You've confused your Barbara’s: The lone vote against the war was from Barbara LEE - an Oakland California Representative: not Barbara Boxer.

No Deb check it out. No idea what you are taliking about. Afghanistan?, I am talking about Iraq. I am talking about the senate of the united states of america. 23 nay votes. Most people think of Iraq when someone mentions 'the war". We pulled troops out of Afghanistan for our adventure in Iraq. Now they are calling for more troops for Afghanistan.

Coffee sounds good
glad we cleared that up.

I been checking out Obama's mother
Only identified as a white woman
Hard to find any info on her.
She is an anthropologist is all I can find out.

Obama not just a pretty face, I think he is the real deal. But e-dog is probably right about Rudy G.

I am already finding a lot of hateful blogs about Obama, his middle name is Hussein. One guy was quick to point that out.

Tell you the truth I fear for the guy's life. November 22, 1963. Broke my heart. He reminds me of JFK, he has that presence.

Two different votes - two different dates - Jack; both on Iraq; Barbara Lee was the first and lone no vote on September 15, 2001. The one you're referring to is from October 11, 2002. I never mention Afghanistan, I don't know (or care) why you're bringing that up.

I don't want to hi-jack this thread so, Goodnight.

without the whole, like ...invading Cuba thing.
And without the Vietnam thing. I think there were only a few hundred advisors there when he came into office. About 16,000 at the time of his murder.
Like I said to Izzy about JFK, Johnny I hardly knew ya.

Yes JFK was a cold warrior, when I started reading the biographies about him I realized I had bought into the whole Camelot new fronteer mythology. There was no missle gap either. He was not really that strong an advocate for civil rights either.
Speaking of Cuba I read that Castro has a personal fortune of 550 million dollars. Not bad for a socialist I think.
I think I would like to sleep through the next two years. Wake up after the election. I am tired. I think you may be right about Rudy G.
God I hate how I write. Such crap. Dull and repetitious. I want to talk not write. I am a language criminal.

Deb
No shit sherlock
The vote that matters is the one in 2002. Two votes, two wars. Afghanistan was pretty straight up. Nobody talking about that much except to say we abandoned them to invade Iraq.

In september 2002 the first NIE came out, it was a 92 page document with a five page summary, hardly anybody read the full report where all the caveats on WMD's were listed. RIce read the summary, Bush read the summary, not sure if Boxer read it but she sure asked smarter questions than Clinton. Even that racist cracker Byrd of West Virginia saw it.

I don't want to hijack either deb. Believe me I would love to have a woman as president. I am not as much a misanthrope about women as men. Does that make me a sexist? I think so. But Hillary is just too got damn clever. She has never appologized, she has never shown any remorse for her vote. She is standing by it. She was mislead, if only she knew then what she knew now. I think she was too busy calculating the political consequences of her vote in 2002. Not listening to what Bushco was saying. Also I am going by what other women I admire have said about her. Molly Ivins for one.

Speaking of Hijack and off topic did you hear about the flap between Boxer and Rice at the senate hearings? Rush Limbaugh called Boxer anti-feminist because she brought up the subject of Rice being childless. I though old mr femi-nazi out did himself with that. funny stuff.

good night deb
sleep tight

Just say Hi Jack

Repost:

I have been checking him out
Up until you started this thread he was just another pretty face to me

Going to be a lot of hate speech, you know that
I heard him called The Great Black Hope.
What is interesting about your original post is your comment about his white mother.

Well I been trying to check her out, she must be a very private person. I think she done a good job of raising her son.

You know for Jews X trumps a Y
If she is a Jewess
You may call him black
Jews would call him a Jew

I read that he came clean about what ever illegal smiles he had as a young man.

just say hi-jack
cause I am

Deb
I just had time to check out your links

Ten four on the obsolete, but I don’t forget you’re a mother one foot in the next generation and the one after that if you are a grandma yet.

I disagree with at least one name on his list. (from your new generation politics link.
I think it's past time for there to be a changing of the guard in black leadership in America. People like Farrakhan, Sharpton and Jackson are no better than hustlers, bigots, and crooks. There are hundreds of black leaders who believe in improving the lives of black Americans, and America in general, but the media keeps giving time to the Axis of Irrelevancy.
I would leave Jackson off that list. Hard to follow St Martin of King.

The real deal, an american master, a national treasure, conscience of a people

I am not trying to belittle Lee's courage, I suppose it is all relative. I think I may be a pacifist. Somehow when I say that I feel like Norman Bates in Psycho, the bit where he is sitting there with the fly crawling on his hand.

Obama is Good
a hundred million dollars is still a lot of money to raise. Rudy G going to be swimming in money like Scrooge McDuck in his twenty story vault.
