"It’s the éminence grise in politics, writes Norbert Weiner in The Human Use of Human Beings (1954); when you arm yourself you arm the enemy."

I could use some good news too, that is what I liked about whimsical deb. I could kick myself about that.
There is an upside to That same technology used to make hydrogen bombs could solve all our energy problems. Fusion, what the sun does. No radioactive waste, just helium.

Norman please excuse the ramble but I want to get it down somewhere and your post is logical place for me (see note on hypertext breakdown)
Thinking about that book the spanish priest wrote about The Things Of New Spain.
The Trickster
Tezcatlipoco, the aztec god of the sun and the smoke mirror. As if we were given this technology called Fusion to either destroy ourselves or create a paradise.
The power of the sun is in our hands. What do we do with it? We make bombs not electricity. The cleanest Nuklar technology there is, no radioactive waste, just helium.
HyperText BreakDown
I will get back with something more relevant asap

"but the fact is that the U.S. stockpile has been confirmed 'safe and reliable'
That is some strange use of the word safe that I am unfamiliar with
A lead role by Los Alamos would help extract that facility from deep political problems growing out of security breaches.
Norbert Weiner said there is no such thing as a “military secrete.” When we arm ourselves, we arm our enemies. Sooner or later.

Ah, the geniuses at work....thank you Zlatko for another eye-opener. I hadn't heard about this hypocrisy. There are so many going on anymore it's hard to keep track.....
It's enough to make me wanna SCREAM!!!!And the nerve of that Haliburton gang. To announce they are relocating to Dubai.....wasn't that who George wanted to sell our ports to? I guess they'll just do it anyway. If they can't pull off their scams out in the open, they'll just do it undercover. Why can't people see this? Why arent' more people motivated to protest? Why is it, that this admininstration is still in the White House?
I'm more and more in agreement with Bill Maher that the Dems are a bunch of pussies. I can't believe there isn't a way to get this administration out, but I can believe that corporations running the democratic party won't let them. God forbid they displease someone who controls the money.....
I get nauseated thinking about the amount of taxes I paid this year, to a government that is not doing ONE thing that represents me, in fact to a government that is slowly WIPING ME OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Whats the good of even discussing this shit.
JUSTSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPEVERYONE! WE NEED TO FUCKING DO DO DO DO DO DO DO DO DO DO DO DO DO SOMETHING!
ARRRRRGHTP@!#$!
Thankyouverymuch

Dear Hester:
I heard an NPR program on this subject.
You wouldn't believe the calm tone with which the "expert" spoke about the "reliable replacement" warhead.
It reminded me of the end of DOCTOR STRANGELOVE in which General Turgidson ( George C. Scott) admonishes the president ( Peter Sellers) that, once it becomes necessary to go deep into mineshafts to escape post Nuke-war radioactive contamination:
"MR. PRESIDENT-- we MUST not allow a mineshaft GAP"!! ( with the Russians)-- they might sneak some big bomb down in their mineshaft-- and, and . . .then they could TAKE OVER!"
Madness, as Alec Guiness says at the end of THE BRIDGE ON THE RIVER KWAI:
( paste from Roger Ebert)
The last words in David Lean's ``The Bridge on the River Kwai'' are ``Madness! Madness ... madness!''
