Welcome!
The Instant Gratification Gratitude Jam is here on this thread!
11/23 - 11/25/07

We are grateful you are here!
Did you bring your own muse?
Will you spin off of others?
Tell us what instantly gratifies you...
Is it something old, something new,
something which particularly resonates in your spirit?
Share your poetic examinations, please,
so all can hear it!
Raise your hearts and voices to the sky
and tell us why you are thankful in instants
and poetic telegrams...
you are here.... Let there be JAM!

;)

GO!

Walk out
smell the fresh wet green
rain released chlorophyll filaments
straddle my heart
i walk alone
quiet paths
soft wet post rain solitude
instant transfixation
all holding patterns succumb
all is alive in scented affirmation

although the path
may take a different turn
than the itinerary plan,
we trust our feet to step,
our eyes to watch for falling rocks
or other dangers on our trek,
continue 'round the bend,
grateful for the journey
no matter that it wasn't what
we originally intended..
and so we stop and sit a spell
and think about the fact that
it's scary as frickin' hell

Who's in the studio?
Are there artists in there?
Do you smell the scents of turpentine
and oil? No canvas is ever spoiled, each one
worked until an image emerges. But where
are the dabblers, the imagemakers, the poets?
I hear an echo in the studio. It is my voice, then
yours and Sarah's and Andrea's singing
"Time to Say Goodbye" and I am lost in here
with ghosts in wait of a new sound, a new painting.
Who's in the studio? Are there artists in there?

What do you call it when
instant gratification is delayed,
when what you are grateful for
must be stayed?
Awaited appreciation?
Distant compensation?

When rewards don't happen
right away, does it make you antsy
or have you more patience than that?
Do you have to have it weighed,
balanced, analyzed?
Are you an immediate brat?
Or do you accept compromise?

Just curious how soon your needs
need to be met and so I said it.
When do you give up?
When do you forget it?

jam has its day. Every day
every day i'm jamming
goin with the flowin and zennin in jam
can't breathe without a jam
it happens and i dig it
jam seeks opportunities
jam's clever
not always a keyboard it finds
jam uses winks and sudden flashes
jam climbs walls to find jammers
jam lives, like a pre-historic genius
jam hibernates and wakes
instantly
jam checks it out and winks to an 8-ball
jam throws out its offers and waits for the rebounds
rebounds there are
jam, a beautiful thing, jaminating a go go

instant gratification
my favorite kind
not waiting eons and forevers
for the pleasures to unwind
seize the moments before tomorrow
make each and every one count
seek smiles and happy laughter
if the world can't be your oyster
well at least let's make some tea
sit our asses at the computer
jam out loud and cleverly

ha cha cha
