Streets paved with the gold of possibility
Shimmer as one foot proceeds another
Far beyond bed's cover
She roams.

a bull in a china shop
foxes in the hen house
like a kid in a candy store
wanting more
april showers
may flowers
I wish they could all be california girls

the morning sprite
stirs our coffee plenty
sweetened by her presence here
the flavor lingers on our memory

Gotan Project - Mi Confesion
I hate rap
but for this?
for this I'll make an acception
Mi confesion
si
and on a lighter note
I milked the gotan
the cream was fine and dandy
sure it leaves an aftertaste
but so does wine and brandy

gently rapping
tenderly tapping
forever more
wordy orderves
tasty tidbits
sipping on sunshine
after the taste is gone
the thrill still lingers.

cups running over
drips sticking to rims
lips sip
fingers tip
the words out on the page
and everyone
feels higher

flowers to a higher power
wonder me with
sweet mystery
the blessing of caressing
the miseries of puppy love
old folks remember
we watch ferlinghetti's train go passing by

i saw him in his poetry room
before i went down the stairs
something made me turn
and there he sat
wistful
eyes gleaming
he winked at me
as if to say
it's okay you did't buy
all those masturbatory tales
i wrote while
sipping beatnik cool aid
~dedicated to L. Ferlinghetti

oh, those were the days
beatnik cool aid
always at the ready
I remember it
like it never happened
and that's the best way
take it to the limits
squander all the gains
catch the sideway trains
to everywhere
at once

Oh god Ferlinghetti
I must be queer
No not really
But I love him
He could have been my uncle
in world war two
he walked the streets of Nagasaki
a couple weeks later
he saw the shadows on the wall
the day he became a pacifist
we boys look for our role models
we need our heroes
From Dugout Doug to GI Joe
But I need ferlinghetti
we take it to the limits
we look for signs
I remember the stars blinking out
I walked the darkness
hugged a tree
Read Nietzsche
and THe Bell Jar
fell for the mad girls love song
as if she were real
But I don't go there no more
My momma was a pistol
and I am son of gun
feel like a mushroom sometims

Stockton St cafe
thin ladies cigarette in hand
Blue smoke a mushroom cloud
around my head
Mr. Phillips mumbling to himself
at the next outdoor table
This shared San Fran caffiene bliss
My head spins on a nicotine dime
as Mr. Phillips mumbles
laughs, marks up crowed scribble scrabbled pages
Passersby tip funky hats
I reach up to adjust the new Gorvin
groovin on cappuccino
getting off on this strange old man
so in command in his rags
and yellow stained fingers
on each hand
Please let me die here
a block from Washington Square park
bury me under a mighty tree
when hobos pee
into the rainy dark.

and waning
shoulders paining
I decide to slip off the high wire
touch ground
move over
see what's on the other side
of sleep for awhile
thanks all
for the pleasure of this
get together
good night
cheers
to more words tomorrow
