going to the candy store
get my mojos going
sweet sweet
bitter sweet
the words are overflowing
jam upon the face of it
jammit! now we're rollin'!

How many jammers does it take
to fit words in a row
or shape them in a line
or circle the conversating waggings
just enough
or just one
surfin' the mood
circling the moon
for inspiration
it's on the dark side
there it hides
chapping my blisters

it's raining
the parade stalled
one wet clown
makeup dripping
puddled on the ground
everyone trippin'
his mood well-rounded
he mooned the crowd

had a mamas & papas song flashback..
strange, since i never really listened to them.
or was it satchmo? Or maybe ella?...
ah well... dream a little dream.
jam a little jam for me...

patient, heal thyself
write a song.
lyric sphere.
full circle.

I looked to the moon for inspiration
I only had to look here
where poets
and poet masters
and also poet wannabes
buzz
and hum
write rings 'round what they see
stretch outward in verbal wandering
wishing they could
touch
just scratch the surface of
a thousand kisses deep

a pulley kept me high
a bungee cord with room for a small planet
all my friends were there
and a few would-be compatriots
my hands were full
my feet on the buttons
& teamwork saved the day

raptor in free fall
an angel too close to the ground
here in the new world

trains pass in the night
Sisyphus vacuums my rug
strange dreams

Ghostly compatriots
Brought me to safety
Long before I was born

Thoughts that come in the night
I might as well vacuum the rug
Or sit here and type

Strange how even though we don't listen or watch
the images and sounds seep into our minds
Or maybe I have listened to the mama's and papa's



I never been to Vietnam
But I have dreamed about the darkness of the jungle
I try not to watch anymore war movies.

I have never been to Iraq
except on the evening news
so far I have managed to avoid
every made for tv movie about the war

sick when you can't reach
that pinnacle

just be careful

but what about 10
10 is where I want to be
so weary of the settle
the bold so self-alluring

that ring in me

penniless
pitiful
how lovely you look today
as if that matters anyway
shit inside
blood and guts
synonymous with the human me
made up
make up
when all I want is real

sometimes a poem
makes a little fist
and punches you
in the nose

and we who read
enjoy it

and bloodied
we return
time and again
