I am an ignorant child
Learning to see with Ferlinghetti's eyes

He painted the lillies over and over for twenty years
he floated through life on those lillies
I have heard
I think happy thoughts and sad thoughts
I suffer and desire
my fly is open

I been more into awareness than happiness these days
Baby it's cold outside
going to get colder
as we lag behind the lucky old sun
as we groove towards spirng

When they say the magi saw a bright star over the the little town of Bethleham Texas.

the candle power of the sun
could take the chill off the words
another day dawned
daylight lingers a little longer
but still the earth cools

adventitious Advent
come and gone
another year waining
still seeking a child
to lead us

Make Amends
light another candle

LR wrote

but spring is already laying plans
so many winter metaphors
relate to death
and spring the metaphors turn to life and rebirth

the irony
even as our days grow longer
since the solstice
the days still grow colder

I have always heard it said
it is darkest before the dawn
it is also coldest at the dawn

The lag between the darkness and the light
the warmth from a pale distant sun
low in the sky
it take a while
to catch up

But spring is on the way

I have read the explanations of what is cold and heat
but it is in the flesh I know
I know what cold is
the numbness in my hands and feet
where metaphors strike home

Like a Jack London story about a fool
dying in the snow.

When my fingers won't comply with the brains orders
When my feet are blocks of ice

i've never tried absinthe.
can you buy it at the liquor store?
is it like ouzo? or
does it throw a different punch?
can you email me some
so i can enjoy it with lunch?

is it true that absinthe
makes the heat grow fonder?
does it make you dream
of amazing things? does it
cause your mind to wonder?

mercy mee
i was glancing over the liquor cabinets at the local liquor store
just because it is so beautious to admire
an i sees this blue bottle behind the front
just below waist level
it says "absinthe"
it is different from the former fake "absenthe"
an yes it's the real deal
with wormwood
you don't need a sugar spoon
you don't need sugar
jusst add collld waatter
an the lovely spirited clear liquor
clouds up
cloudy blue
an i have to get some mint
per the recipee inside the little booklet
outside hid in mt daddy's ww2 trunk
am doing a 90 day abstenence from it all
march 23 my daddy's birthday
then we'll see

a salute to health

the blue majik
made in france, same old formula since early 19th century
same distiller
lucid
nice piano to go with the crackling fire
mercy absinthe is back
mercy me
try some and see

if cold is the absinthe of warmth
and truth is the absinthe of lies
indifference the absinthe of love
silence the absinthe of cries

would you drink it if you knew?
that wormwood will eat holes in you?

Tickle my fancy
schmooze my muse
into action
I pant for some resonance
some word play frivolity
snow angels spouting their stuff
in whispers, nose cold
words flat out on their backs
star gazing
limited only by horizons unseen
distances not yet traveled

treacle my tart
with jam
I used to walk with my head in the clouds but I kept getting struck by lightning!
Now my head twitches and I drool alot. Anonymouse

I found myself in the ashes glowing
warmed, the night usually indifferent
grasped hold of some semblance of me
and swept the cold away
I used to walk with my head in the clouds but I kept getting struck by lightning!
Now my head twitches and I drool alot. Anonymouse

I have loaded my larder
with Christmas delights and tender munchings
Christmas cheer peers out
faces glowing from bottles
liquid golds to warm us insides out
sip and toast the good fortunes
glad to be alive
celebrate another winter solstice
in these shivering times
I used to walk with my head in the clouds but I kept getting struck by lightning!
Now my head twitches and I drool alot. Anonymouse
