ice cream for crow
starlings enter the distance
moon on a roll
down by the bird pole
ain't no Poe
ain't no regional poet
ain't angry at the sun
like Robertson Jeffers
never seen a windmill
saw a Bukowski once
toll that one to many
but i heard them crows
are as smart as us
but that ain't sayin
much

bloody brain teasin circumstance
get yerself a situation
roll around, mess it up
sprinkle a little soya on top
sautee the matter
steamed, pressed, ingest
consider the alternatives
spit out a thought
you or me, all the same
intelligence is a sometime thing
now ya see it kind of thing
comes in spurts
a little crack of fortune
then gone, like a thought on speed
zoom, out,
sometime you get lucky
catchin a shadow
holding onto a thread
designing an opinion
then zap, shrivel
helium high
balloon on empty

faint glow
just you know
this
faint glow
so slow
to
die
but anxious
to
glow
even
faint
glow

the kind
to know
a glow
when
you see
one
glow
after
the other
in a row
that
faint glow
it know
how to
sow a glow
even the
faintest
faint glow
glowing
glowing
glow

I woke up again
it was a Sunday morning
the earth was mourning

hush little baby don't you cry

everyday is always Mother's Day for me.
I was such a fortunate son
All my mother ever wanted was for her children to be happy,
and a night out with her poker pals

I don't want to think about crying babies in Iowa or Darfur

So I think happy thoughts about Obama's Mama's Day

There is a woman who deserved the congressional medal of maternity.

Obama's Mamma had it easy.
Smart kid, top of his class
never got in trouble,
studied law, got his own loans,
worked to pay them back,
wasn't a slouch. Being a single mom
is never a breeze. I'm sure she had
some difficulties. But....

When it comes down to it, let's face it.
She had a son whose life was a success.
She was blessed, was she not?
He didn't join gang, he was thankful
for what he got, praised her, gave her his
support. Bet they didn't have arguments
in that house very often, though if they did
it wouldn't be something they'd report, but
still, she had it easy, seems to me.
Bet his lowest grade on his report card was a B.

the day
grammatically
a designation
as to
the passage
of time
no matter
how brutal
the role
it plays
episodically

the day on earth
a geographical location
local time
the day on earth is 24 hours
how long is that in star time
can't be very long
less than a twinkle of a distant star

time passes episodically for me
in jerks and spurts and freeze frame
and memory

planeta, suelo, polvo
diferencia e indiferencias capitales
desde afuera, desde adentro
espaciosa, confinada
alegrías del hogar entre rejas
torres, grúas, el cielo
una ciudad que no es mía
cara a cara
frutos de Frida, Amaral y Berni
toros casi invisibles
columnas inexplicables
caperucitas en mármol
cálidos parques de otoño
murmullos en quechua & maffesoli
planeta, suelo, polvo ...

planet, soil, dust
capital difference & indifference
from outside, from inside
spacious, confined
home happiness´s behind bars
towers, cranes, the sky
a city that isn´t mine
face to face
Frida, Amaral & Berni´s fruits
almost invisible bulls
and un-explained columns
little red hoods in marble
warm autumn parks
quechua & maffesoli murmurs
planet, soil, dust ...

ain't no problem too big to fix
just get the ole hands dirty
roll up those buttoned-down sleeves
freshly starched smirk
yessir! love a good challenge
earth day crumbling to dust?
no problem
got a crack a planet wide?
ain't nuthin
just gotta put the ole shoulder to the grindstone
who's in? who wants to put the earth back on track
well, just say Aye
and off we go!
tra la, tra la
and it's a perfect day for it

no mo, that rut ain't no king Tut, toot toot my
horn, preachin cane, down on the cosmos cona
tellin it like it is, was, as it were, as it turn turn
got ta teach it to learn, I remember when Big Sur
burned, i remember goin down to that sand piper
beach, and makin zeros in the sand, where Ginsberg
was, on my way to the first summer of love, was
singing white rabbit, all the way there, i ain't no square

mother earth
why call you that
this sentimental name
we’re so endearing
truly loyal and devoted
there when needed
supportive of your cause
bringin’ you no harm
like children we are
provin’ we really care
by action and deed

oh please, come on
humanity, let’s get real
who are we, anyhow
wanting preference
without works
earth our mother
nurturin’ us
ahead of all else
despite what we do

what the mommy
