all along the Kitchen Coast
The monkeys are dancing in baggy pants

and Meanwhile back at the Oasis
the Arabs are eating their dates

And in Texas we water our gardens
cause The earth is pregnant with big juicy home grown tomatoes

there is a town
150 miles left
of the right coast
and there is a
barefoot woman
dressed in black
sitting in a house
all alone in this town
and outside the rain
drips tiny god tears and
the peonies are 2 feet high
ready to bloom, staked
and wrapped with twine
to keep them strong
and high and red
ants march to some
odd earth tune carrying
the remains of a caterpillar
sliced in half, and the woman
hears gulls laugh,
sees a crow circle,
watches the sun
try to peak through,
her eyes full like a pool,
the only human being
she has seen in weeks
is herself mirrored in
a pond reflection

150 miles from the third coast
an old man sits alone
(except for a cat)
and thinks about poor Echo
Narcissus got all the ink
The old man has not seen himself in weeks
He is so vain he hardly looks in the mirror
He still thinks he looks like a kid
And the sun beats down with no mercy
water of life don't fall no more
god don't cry on his garden.
And the earth spins
the sun rises and sets
on a day that will not come again
And children are born
one child left to carry on
and Pick up the pieces
clean the mess
the sins of the fathers
teach your children
mother nature is on the run

some say we were born
but i say we're always born
every day, a new DNA
alone, for sure, but together with ancestry
we shlep along great-aunts, ancient habits
we are sudden blacksmiths and opera stars
alone in our homes,
flaunting our hidden populations
an array of identities
wrapped up in cotton and jeans
deceiving no one
witness protection programme
sunglasses, cap, we do all that
while planning a plot to survive

Whoop de do

Plotting glory
midst angels
of inevitable.
Know it alls ride
on clouds of
certainty,
pretend to own
sunbeams
in societal circus.
The less that can have it,
the higher the price.
Whoop de do.
Nothin big about that.
Look at me.
I can spin the world
on my nose,
clap my hands
with pride and joy,
at the same time.

need grass seed
to fill the empty
spots and a lover
to fill mine. need
to kill the weeds
preferably en masse
instead of one at a
time. need to breathe
fresh air, dare to quit
the mundane, move on.
some think i am insane
and they are right, since
to hang on is something
not so bright. need the
sun to fill the sky and
the moon at night
to bathe me in a subtle
view. need my subscription
and prescription both renewed.
need a swim and once again
the strength and fortitude
of a stroke. need the evidence
of continuance to give me
hope.

sleep is for old people, she said,
then poured me another drink.
after that, i took a nap, i think.

need young, need fresh, need new.
what about you?

i need to relax
to breathe, to meditate when I need to
do reiki, show love
be direct, cleanse my inner neuroses
(the usual needs)
i need to jam,
to sing, to dance
to smile,
to laugh
all that
are needs
and a little air, food and water
roof over my head
hugs from my loved ones
all that is all i need
and you

I got everything I need and more
and I still want more

Greedy children
the earth is heir to

I need to be alone
No phone no internet no pets
Just me and my tomatoe plants

Searching for a cave
time I pulled that hermit trip

water comes from the earth
without it we can't survive
it fills the pool, i'm off to swim...
i put my bag in locker #125

why do i do that every time?
'cause one day soon that weight
will be mine!

second desk on the left in the office

second in command
second day of the week
sometimes i'll be first
but second has such a syncopating feel
da DAH, oh, da Da DA
play IT
one TWO it
give me a second
i'll think of a third

do you ever see two cartons of milk
on the shelf and start to pick one
and then put it back to pick the other
because you're worried the
other one will get jealous?

I do.
Maybe it's a phobia.

what has this to do with the earth?
the earth provides food for the cows
and the cows give milk.

nothing like staying on theme.

:D

oh lah de dah
I skirt the the woman's underwear section in department stores like it is the dismal swamp

hmmm
two cartons of milk
two jugs
not to do with breasts

two women
90 and 125 pounds and I weigh more than both of them combined

what has this got dot with anything sisters
it's only a jam

the white house held its first poetry jam
ever last night

and the divine mother smiles on her sons

and she said
I am not your mother
just your lover

why do we think of the earth as a mother
and the father as a sky

where do metaphors go to die

this ain't pretty and I know it
but my back hurt so I smoked a roach.

what ever happened to strontium 90
the cows you to love that shit

spastic brain
the cows used to love that shit

I meant to say the great dismal swamp

the rape of the earth
DNA evolves at a snails pace
technology evolves overnight

and it is up against the wall red necked muthas
sure blame it on a woman
you know the hand that rocks the cradle

Medusa must be redeemed
