New year
matches my vision.
20/10 in both eyes.

Another decade until
I get to 20/20.

Eyesight like that
happens only once
in a blue moon.

Blue moon 2009: a New Year's Eve rarity

blue moon glow
on the bird trampled snow,
coffee and quiet talk
moe larry and curley
on television, the stooges are
the perfect theatre of the absurd
while we count down to zero
here on planet vaudeville,
planet oh-my-gawdville.
the tethered ball whooshes
around the pole, closer
and closer...

thankyou for being Here!

i made a sacrifice to the winter
left my little bag of marijuana
at starbucks whole and complete
the mulcher's work is done and
the breath's work's just begun
as the world breathes in a special breath
only at midnight as the world turns
through another prayer for an onward journey
because somewhere there's spring
and somewhere spring is over
everywhere over spring
for spring was long ago for us out here on top
and spring was just complete last week by the clock
tho the calendar stays the same as t'is for every year
down under they wait and wait for us to know they're there
a sacrifice to the winter that begins our discontent
with the way things were and they cannot be now
how much tragedy must we wreak and then lament
we cry in fear and cry in grief we cry and wail upon the wall
because we forgot the simple truth we knew just before the fall
the temptation to be special better than the other and to get the favour and esteem was our sin as it was before and always had been
cause we fought to live and to pray
and we finally knew the soul of god '
neath that old tree of knowledge and fruit
and the apple fell and the gravity of mass rang out
and then bespoke the truth

a sense of spirit and proportion is what i resolve
and just a little bit more
a spirit of inclusion at the table of god
the way of the future not the sin of exclusion
contentious vanity and false pride will be atoned
and we all shall be here as one.

fasten your seat belts
here's to a clear and happy 2010 and beyond

Soon we will see that rare blue moon
We hope the clouds will not obscure
A new year's eve blue moon
As the old clock winds down on 2009--
We gain a new clock and time
We turn over a new leaf as the
Expression goes, and onward to 2010...
We pray that everyone may share the
Blessings of a happy & safe New Year.

seems safe, so far
one coffee, one poem

i've already lied
it's been at least 5 or 6 since dawn
poems, i mean

poem counters anonymous
i'm a poet
yes, i've miscounted poems

you can say 12 steps
i'll no doubt say 3
incurably

One more hour here 'til the strike of midnight.
That's when I turn into a pumpkin. Or is it a frog?
Where's that old dawg so-called Prince with my silver slipper?
OUtside starin' at the blue moon, losing my shoe in the Big Dipper?
It's, LATE, I'm telling you, soon it will be another decade, my friends.
The future is now! It's gonna be two thousand and ten!
What happened to the years? That's what I'd like to know.
Come and go, come and go, that's what they do so grab onto your hat,
it's already tomorrow somewhere. Think of that.

We've had 111,009 posts on Studio 8 during the past 5 years! That's a LOT of posts! ... This is post #111,010 ... on the 1st day of the 1st month of 2010.

Ones and Zeros. Somehow this is significant.

This is not a poem.

Cheers!

Does anyone know what time it is?
My computer clock is reading 1910
I lost a hundred years in the Y2K Glitch

My predictions for the new years
There will be lots of news in 1910
And then the world will end again

And in the year 2000
Christ will come again
And there will be peace in the valley

Does anybody really know what time it is
in Chicago
My dog knows time
My dog is dead
again

Roll away the stone
roll away in
twenty ten
