that stone will keep rolling
it will gather no moss
how does it feel
to be free
rolling free out your own center
roll on big mama
roll on rock
jam on Sisyphus
hold on to the stone

new year?
doves can't count
just a number

calendar affirms
yes, time passes
moon still shines

and last night
errant firecrackers
startled me in bed

i wondered
about the doves
in their roosts

not knowing
another year
blew by
Freedom's just another word...

2010... the future is here
2010... the future is now
2010... we are the future
2010... no mind/no matter
2010... is it ready for us?

Solstice to New Year's Jam

Post by Steve Plonk » January 1st, 2010, 11:22 am

Ring Ring Ring in the New Year!
Did you know that these days you
can get high-fiber, low-fat, sugar-free
coconut cake?...Or you could just eat
a printout, it's tastier...Happy New Year!

Last night I slew a jabberwock
nicknamed seattle sue,
The cats on the window ledges
Helped me dispose of the carcass...
We had a great feast of gummy bears,
potatoes and other vegetables...
There was bubbly and sodie &
Hot java for the masses...
We all hooted and brayed like asses...
The light of the blue moon shone through
the clouds...As firecrackers exclaimed out loud...
Ziggieboogiedoo!

"Hey, Jeff, didja' have a nice New Year!?"
"Dunno, Murray, It's just commenced."

(Note: But I expect not much will change, as when encountered by a querier in regard to my Veganism, "Well, what do you do about Chinese food?" Classically, I have replied with an indifferent stare, but of late have decided, "Well, I don't speak Cantonese, I order It.").

joined with friends
and some strangers
last night,
grateful for them
and you
on the journey this far

at 12
we cheered
and kissed
and hugged
and
promised
once again
to start a journey
or is it just continue?

either way,
a fine ritual
of pause and celebration
and journeying on!

I will still be dating my checks 2009 for another couple weeks

I want, I wish for some poetry
I would like to say
in my own no poetic way
That
we pause and celebrate
and continue
meanwhile
nothing can stop the flow
towards Vela
not even the world on edge
and if I could find some meter or rhythm
or feel the beat I wish to say
I am honored to even be here
among such friends as you all
I roll on with the help
of a small circle of friends
who tolerate my marching to a different drummer
roll on

I stayed and I saw
with a girlfriend,
Mama Mia and sipped
on daiquiris.
My child soundly sleeping
on my shoulder
snoozed on.
Then J-Lo in a satin, sparkle
slipping--
down came the ball.
Outside it glittered, too
in new falling snow.
`Do you know, I was so angry, Kitty,' Alice went on...`when I saw all the mischief you had been doing, I was very nearly opening the window, and putting you out into the snow! And you'd have deserved it, you
little mischievous darling!
