By the edge of the puddle
Alice would dare stare longer and longer
to see if anything would but jump out upon her
or slither between her lips and slide down her throat
but nothing of interest ever happened to her.
The garden burnet rose up tall--
bent slender
and she'd pluck it up to dip in the puddle
then munch it during the spared time;
for Alice had most of it twice more
than anyone prior.
Battle ready on balled up fists
she'd gather up rocks in mountains
on Spring anticipation
and twisted her hair tightly on top
but the silence lulled on.
Tossing all her mountain into the water
she fought none other than herself.

`Do you know, I was so angry, Kitty,' Alice went on...`when I saw all the mischief you had been doing, I was very nearly opening the window, and putting you out into the snow! And you'd have deserved it, you

Today I raked last fall's leaves from flower beds,
collected fallen branches from the winter's snowstorms
into a pile, all the while, sun so strong having awakened
from a long winter nap, suddenly streaming
rays to warm the skin, the show of crocus blooms
breaking ground, the sound of a dog's bark having
found a spring romp
And I, connecting the cycle of seasons in my brain
like a dilettante, nonchalant my manner
yet... in awe.
Mulch crunch under soles – the bass,
the brisk baritone chase of squirrels –an alto breeze,
a blue warbler soprano symphony!
I wanted to chant, skip, dance, sing, each cell
reckoning with spring music –
I kept my desire to execute this vernal celebration
in check as my neighbors might have been watching
and I didn't want them to think I'd gone wack!
But next year, you can track me on your radar beam
come time for the first day of spring! In fact, I'm planning
on expressing exactly the way I feel!
Check your local internet.... I'll be on
youtube doing cartwheels!

I was a splash of color
on the sidewalk
with an open umbrella;
nothing more, nothing else.
I thought the birds were contemplating me.

Word Jam
A bo dee o doe, A bo dee o doe,
Word jamming with the flow--
So the images go,
Canadian daffodils pop up their
Little springing heads like duckbills,
Native daffodils are a little ahead,
Or behind, depending on the instinct
Sap or sign, as so far the weather
Has been kind, down here in Chattanooga...
Just got back from a spring forum in
The Tennessee River Gorge--
First spring forum that "Earthcare" has had there--
Hearing the call of the kingfishers, sapsuckers,
Speedboats and jetskis on the water--
We studied the birds and then went out to
See them and hear their calls while watching waterfalls...

ships´s season here
(if you make enough silence and with the proper wind you can listen to the ship´s sirens in foggy mornings and nights, fifteen blocks away!)
the city expands with that sounds
each time
in a remote, secret way
beyond cereals
(tupperware rice rests from sunday in the fridge
soy sauce: right shelf beside marine salt)
