a poem my brother wrote on Mothers Day about 45 years ago,

"Birds fly north
birds fly south
birds fly everywhere
but inside your mouth."

Swear to Gawd.

We got all the birds down here, waiting for a fortnight more.

I don't know what happened, sooZ.

I went to sleep at 2AM and the board was fine.

I woke up at 8AM and the default style was showing, no banner, nothing.... it looked like any other board on the internet.... all my customizations gone!

So, I went into the configuration panel and looked at my uploaded files and the customizations were available, so I restored it and now it's back looking like Studio Eight again.

Odd thing is, there's a style I didn't install which is in the files and available, too .... I dare not select it.

Did we get hacked?

I don't know but as soon as I get a couple of hours more sleep, I'm going to speak to the software gurus and ask a helluvalot of questions.

Sorry about that.

Think of it this way.... we *could* look like that all the time... like every other darn discussion board on the internet superhighway...

I was sooooo relieved it only took a couple of clicks to get my customizations restored!

Thanks for noticing.

Oh, I noticed alright...how could one not? Your beautiful customizations are one of the things that make this spot so wonderful.

Love the sand pic...I am sure a detail oriented person that I can picture myself sitting there looking at each grain. Hah!

Glad you had no problemo getting your settings back.

Yep. We got hacked.

Thanks, SooZ and judih....

Looks like a dreaded upgrade may be necessary soon.

They directed me to this thread, in case you're interested in reading the mumbo jumbo that takes place when something like this happens....

http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.ph ... sc&start=0

Seven pages of it so far.

Looks like a mess to me... LOL! We're lucky we're up and running... many aren't... thread was started in December and continues today with other boards having the same problem.

I'm trying to find out if I have to go through all of those steps to make sure we're safe from the attack, since we're up and running and some aren't.

I sure hope not. But clearly, I will need to upgrade the software soon which means I'll have to take the boards down for a while to accomplish it. I'll let you guys know.

In the meantime, if you come here and it doesn't look like Studio Eight again, like it was this morning.... if you could email me and let me know, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

okay, doreen. Spirit plants was hacked a few days ago (same phbb thing) and the hackers inserted a message and sent some of the members e-mails to prove they'd gotten into the data base.

(i wasn't one of the lucky receivers).
They upgraded. they have one guy who's just tech - and i don't know how much work was required.

whatever you decide, may the winds of renewal blow from the rear (a slightly panta'sized expression with a generous dollop from popeye)

Hi judih - yeah lots of sites got hacked... I don't know what the obsession is with this software and why anybody would want to hack it. But hell, I don't know why anybody would want to hack anything and other than maybe it's kid doing plain old vandalism... 21st century car-egging, maybe. gotta find the time to do the fixes...

The Gates banner... ahh... yeah, I love that one, too. Lescaret's photo pops and I'll put it back again soon, I promise. I had Alicia walking by my screen over here and several times she said, "Mom, please change that banner! You've had it up for over a day now! It looks like the city's on fire!" - so I let her pick the replacement and she chose Bennie's city scene.

I think of the banners like mood enhancers or something. Unfortunately, I'm the only one who can currently change them.... but I try to be fluid with them by alternating subtle, relaxing subdued color schemes with those which are vibrant .... for variety.

Thanks for your comments. I'll make a mental note of your desire to see the Gates banner more often!

for example - i'm now watching diners in a dayfilled city. Where am i?

heh

you can see me when i'm not here but believe me sometimes when you think i'm here because you can't see me, i'm not really here but the window's open because the window's always open

and if you look to the left of the window on the image, you will see people walking by..

what you can't see is LR and I way up close another 200 feet sitting at an outdoor cafe in NW DC last summer.... breakfast at noon... omelettes and margueritas, then off to the metro, 2 blocks up, one block down to get off at the smithsonean exit, up an escalator flight and emerge on the mall....... frisbees flying, dogs running to catch.... greeted by a street gal claiming to want to feed her kids and so we escorted her and her kids to the hotdog stand, bought 'em all a dog and a bag of chips and allowed her to walk with the extra $20 which we'd given her to begin with..... crack con? i donno...... but it was a glorious day.... later we went to the national gallery gardens and inside... where the masters of paint and sculpture awed us...

thanks for being there with us for sunday brunch ......

this is a dayfilled city...... many cafes...

take me to one of yours... send me a photo of an outdoor cafe? wouldn't that be cool? lots of outdoor cafe photos... i love outdoor cafes in dayfilled cities.....

thank you, judih!

doreen - this isn't my own photo, but it's so typically Tel Aviv - that's exactly the intensity, the seriousness of outdoor cafe sitting

i'll look for more - move this to visuals if you like, but i wanted to reply here, while you're still 'hidden'

judih - that's a great photo! do you have a larger version? No, i'm not going to move it! geez... umm... but it would be great if you had a larger version! I'd love to make that into a banner! who's photo is it? if it's ok with the photographer, of course... No, you were probably just sharing but YES... that's the kind of shot I'm talking about.... Great to see typical Tel Aviv intensity in an outdoor cafe... Let's do a series, ok? Outdoor cafe banners.... like we're there all together sitting there talking, eating, drinking, socializing, but we're not, goddamn it 'cause we're all in different locations but cyber is the next best thing to being there! I love the photo! Thank you for posting it! studioeight outdoor cafes all around the world.... ahhhh...... a spring and summer series..... love you... g'night from the beautiful state of mind which we call virginia 'cause virginia is for lovers, some kinda state motto quite appropos but y'know? I think that should be the motto for the world.... "the world is for lovers"... i LIKE it....who's hiring the promo director for the world? send 'em my email address..... lol ;)

gnight... goodmorning....

do - absolutely don't have the photographer's name or permission! (hmmmmm). Have a link but it's to a general online magazine -

best bet is to steal someone's photo and then track them down for permission - i'll do what i can.

good night.

Maybe you have some of your own outdoor cafe experiences on film?

That would be best! ;)

Thanks, judih!
