Summer's End 'til Autumn Transition Jam - HERE!

Not too long ago, it seems,
it was the second day of second grade.
Yesterday was the first day of her senior year.
The air is getting a bit chilly at night. Autumn
will arrive before we know it. When winter leaves,
we'll prepare for graduation in the spring.
Why does it go so quick? Perhaps it is some
parlor trick or else it's caused by the waving
of a magician's wand.

Ya ...thinking the same of my kiddo...once all sparkles, smiles and bright red cheeks....and now.... a young woman..studying, traveling...deciding what, when, where how....and I too continue to age with new lines and a beard of snow....Wondering.............

but what about next year?
when labor day is finished and the schools are back in swing
and the baby graduates are missing
and only fall comes back
off to other schedules
off to other jobs
off to other offs

[WIREMAN]

my how time flies
cool down tomorrow
10 degrees less is better
been a too hot summer
thinking about retiring to maine
somewhere on the coast
4 and 1/2 years
don't wanna rush it
just hope i make it

New English summers are pretty enough,
yet winters are prettier times--
but buyer beware: the ticks here are rare,
so bring enough gin for your Lyme's.

winter clock approaches
early sunsets
thoughts of whitman
curled up by the cast iron stove
brewing cider
singing with the cat

front door release
into frozen blue day
dressed so thick, impervious to attack
courage enough to confront a blizzard
can do it becomes the mantra

memories of such times
and i hang on to summer
stay awhile, let's watch venus smile

l'shanah tovah creaks the pantry door
from summer fields in other promised lands
to pilgrim sanctuaries' autumn store,
where, penitent, the lifeblood stockpile stands
in hope to taste a year of life once more--
shofar, so good, when life to life remands.

while joel croons ram's horn power
stoned out starscape shimmies spacetime hours
blue and black tonight

There is a secret waiting to be hidden
under the leaves that are yet to fall

stones and stars and blues and blacks
fall is all when summer slacks

summer milks when autumn moos

summer thunders, autumns moans

all's a ball, the season's ours

kinda perfect outside
almost 6 pm.
sunset around 6:30
gonna logout here at
the library
and sit outside of
the nola cafe

i feel my muse come back
rolling off my tongue
like the stone from the
tomb, like the birth of a
newborn, womb released,
words flood out with the
afterbirth, my mouth
determined to tell the
story whole
and the prodigal son
returns.

Seasons come and go in the temperate clime,
Once again the ivy will climb, the grass will yellow,
Once again we will return our tawny heads to heaven,
Seeing the meteor showers and the signs of the times...
For time bends into itself and we all become one
With the essence of being...
