Here's a great hymn to start it off.
It's a Christmas song, usually, but
I think it's good for after Epiphany
and maybe even for Feb. 2, Candlemass.
It's called "In the Bleak Midwinter"

Cold comes down in waves
As heat shuns my toes and nose
Loveliness like her
Always warms my soul

Branches ache at the sight of me
and fall off into frost, falling into
an overturned neck of the woods
as hibernating bacteria
crystallizes in the deadpan Sun
breaking snaps of microcosmic dweomers
foraging for something to adhere to..
Faeries sleep in tourniquets of heat
roundabout clutches of twinkling ghosts
embracing my boots

tundras and tundras and tundras
keeping me away from Hammond
verbs numbed midair
and aggregate sensors
feeding all the plains of malcontent arrays

somewhere there's a frolic of rapture
for sharp weathered senses
and pale beating chests

somewhere
heat full blast
still chilled
night empty
motionless downtown streets
smokers freezing
at the party tonight
my favorite bar closing early
snow on the horizon
as temps rise
and we jam!
me I feel like I'm becoming some kinda Kung fu t.v. Priest.....

sliced leather
pushes steel bars through holes
flesh receiving frost fires
flash frozen to bone
blood becomes icy red milk as angled iron
forges gorges enclosed in communication
between the hills, preserved for a season
entered reasonably late
on a frigid year's renewal
toes are parasitic pebbles
thwarting numbness with painful steel boots
hollow acres rise through columns of rebar chords
an eight 50/50 envisions follicles of structured skeletons
looming over the demise of their freedom
roughly cut in a quicksand of abyssal solidity
and the evening is warmed in the truck
in the kitchen with the stove open

cast iron stove
full flame on low
lumber jackets gather round
dogs and children sing
hot time in the cool night
let my people go

some lands banish darkness
before the heart gives in
festival lights
bonfire nights
raging humans transform caves
into underground disco scenes
dance in hooped frenzy
sing in eerie harmony
mellow the freeze
soothe the malease
roll the meek into mighty
galvanize fragment to steel
celebrate until spring remembers the lines
full spotlight in a sold-out house
we all buy a ticket
wear a sash
all winners
tonight

beastly badges of courage
running wilderness into the furnace of
mirages of adrenalin flavored warmth
