New Artlogs space available

Post by Doreen Peri » May 3rd, 2006, 11:06 am

Edit - We've created a new category for these member forums called "Artlogs"

_____________

As you see, we've added a couple of Studios. (judih and stilltrucking)

The main site will have sections where people can add content but until that's launched, we thought some of you might like to have your own spot to keep your own writings (or in stilltrucking's case, his writings and the writings of all of his 'hand puppets' ;))

If you'd like a Studio space, please contact me by email or pm.

Thanks!

Important note - Please realize that we do not guarantee safe-keeping of your writings. Many sites on the internet, including this site, can often be temporary. We want to stick around for a while but we cannot offer guarantees. Please keep copies of all your writings.

I think the addition of these new columns is wonderful, however …

Shouldn't their columns be listed under the Columnists section instead of the Studio section?

Studio, so far, seems to be about particular subjects ...
Philosophy of Art & Aesthetics (edog)
Magic & Metaphysics (hester)
Animal Welfare Issue (abcrystcats)
Inspirational Quotes (glorious amok)

... while the columnists sections contains those who are talking more about themselves, and the multiple events/subjects that are important to their own lives, and that seems to fit what judih and ST's have been writing about (so far).

So ... I thinking they should be moved them to the Columnist section.

Dammit. I just typed for 5 minutes then accidentally hit my back button on the mouse and it's all gone. LOL!

I'll start again.

OK Deb ... the Columnists category are for regularly self-published columns (opinion and editorial... op ed). LR writes and published his 2x a week, usually with a socio-political theme, offering his opinions. Michael Bonanno writes about similar themes, offering his opinions, and publishes them here on a regular basis. Cecil publishes his Sunday Stream once a week on Sunday, examining spiritual and philosophical themes, offering his editorial opinions. (BTW, we'd really like to have more columnists, especially some who have contrary political leanings to LR and Michael because we don't want to appear to be advocating any one agenda even tho LR says Michael makes LR look like a moderate. ;))

The Studios, yeah, you're right... they've (up until now) been forums where the moderating members discuss various different topics which they are particularly interested in.

Perhaps these new Studios need a new category and shouldn't be in the Studio section as you suggest, but they're definitely not columns. We just thought some of you might want a spot to archive your own writings. I hesitate to call them BLOGS because I don't really like that name, but essentially that's what they'll be. They can add poetry, rants, essays, stories, journal or anything else they want.

Hmm... Ya got me thinking. Originally in the site plan, I had planned for a section called "Artlogs" (click HOME at the top and you'll see the plan for the main site which we've barely developed yet).

Maybe we should create a new category called "Artlogs" for judih's and stilltrucking's spots and other members who might want one.

What do you think?

We can call it anything anybody wants. It's just a name.

No obligation to be arty or anything else.

It's just the name I chose for the future "blog" areas of the future site that's not yet developed because this is an arts site so arts plus blog = artlog.

Doesn't really matter much. If you think a different name for that category would work better let me know.

A rose by any other name would smell as sweet.

A category name. Could be anything.

:)

(did you mention roses...?)
:D

...a body goes to sleep, a body wakes up and lo, a body's become an art

But ~ your ramblings already were, always were works of individual art
ST's also

(imo)

I like the change
as Doreen says, it's more then a blog ...

so I like the artlogs catagory, I hope it stays ~ and grows! But - if Doreen changes her mind or others find they don't like it and everything ends up getting changed again ...

no problem.

No, not really, but I'll keep it in mind and I'll let you know if I should change my mind. Thank you for the offer, and the kind words. I appreciate both.
