avatar gallery? avatar contest?

Want to have an avatar contest? We could all enter avatar designs for the length of the contest... a month maybe? Just an idea. We could post them here and vote on the best one. The winner would get..... hmmm.... applause? LOL! I donno. Something. What do you think they should win?

Then all the avatars entered would become part of an avatar gallery which the users here could select from any time they want.

Is this a good idea or a stupid one?

it's a great idea. the mind boggles when imagining what kind of entries might show up (pierre? doreen? panta? cecil? stilltrucking? and so on.) speaking of unusual, i wonder where geoff's gone.

but back to the avatar. we could have a fine art series, a satirical series, a nature series, etc. you know who you are, those of serious series intent.
