Be part of solutions, not part of problems...
As Deda Meher Baba said: "Don't worry, be happy!"
Let's all try to think of the jar as half full, rather than vice versa.
Seasons Greetings! A bit of optimism can help...Voila!

Hi Steve!

Are you suggesting that we use these slogans on the banners? I like them, but the banners really are for artwork and photography, not words. The only words on them are "studio eight" and the name of the artist or photographer.

You can see more of the banners here.

If you have artwork of photography you'd like to submit for the banners, let me know! That would be great.

:) :)

Pictures with words

What about daily banner pictures with maxims or slogans? Would that work, if a person had the ability to do them? Once I get through a tutorial and get the knack, I may come up with some.
I once had illustrations with bubble writing which had stuff like: "High Rise" and "Rubber Knife". They were word illustrations.
I believe Peter Max did stuff like that, too. Without the technology to create them online, it is difficult to explain. Maybe sometime...

Steve... Thanks very much for your interest in the banners! Years ago, I put words on the banners during Studio Eight community events, (announcing the event) and I just didn't like it. It looked too busy. I also created some artwork using words for a couple of the banners a long time ago. I was going to show them to you but I can't seem to locate the files. Anyway, I didn't like them either. They were too busy, too complicated on the eye.

So, I've preferred focusing on the art and photography of the members since this is an arts community. I create the banners myself.

That said, if you want to submit some artwork created with words, feel free! I'll take a look at it and see if it might work for a banner. I'm always open to showcasing the artwork of community members and if you create some "word art" ... artwork made out of words ... email it to me or post it to this thread and we'll see.

Thanks again!

Thanks, Doreen, I'll see what I can do, but can't promise anything real soon. I hope I can get the knack of the photoshop stuff.

stilltrucking: Oh, what a fine poster you posted with MLK and that wonderful quote. Now if we could do something like that every week or so with the studio-eight logo, we would be in beeswax. ;) !!

You're welcome.

I have to tell you that I remain much more inclined to focus on artwork and photography rather than words. Words are in the text, in the forum's posts. If you love slogans like that, you could start a thread with the slogans you love.

OR ... if you'd like to have an Artlog of your own, your very own forum (scroll down), you could make the forum about slogans you like if you want. Just let me know. You can use your Artlog for whatever purpose you want.

Studio Eight is a site about "Uniting the Arts" and visual arts... photography, paintings, etc., are an important part of the site. So, if you end up creating something with words, my suggestion would be to create it so the words are subtle, not prominent. The site name needs to be prominent.

And also, if I select any artwork you submit, I will crop it the size of the banner and add the site name and credit to you at the bottom myself, so please don't add those to your artwork.

Thanks again for your interest! Glad to have you as part of the community.

Love the new banner. I keep a bird feeder in my backyard and every year there is a couple of cardinals that hang around every year. I'm having a little trouble right now with a falcon that thinks the feeder is a buffet.

Hey Doreen, The cardinal kinda looks like you....

Yes, the cardinal daily banner with the icicles was
A real chirp. I really got a kick out of it. One of my favorites.
Well, a cardinal is a red bird and Doreen is seemingly a red head...
So it is a birdlike match. I have brown hair and beard, but it
looks red when the tie-dye wears off... I'm also a St. Louis baseball Cardinals fan.

Mudshark, ask Doreen Peri. I don't know about the art having to do with banners. Also, you could ask the person who posted the banners.
I was asking questions and making suggestions about the banners myself.
See top of page or post a feedback question yourself.

Lasse... great to see you! We've missed you!

The banner up there right now is by Mark Rothko
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_Rothko

I had an idea to create banners using the paintings of famous artists. See this thread for more info and to add your favorite artists to the list.

......

Steve... I'm the one who creates and posts the banners. Do you have any favorite artists you'd like to see represented in the banners? See this thread - http://studioeight.tv/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=18622 :)
