Hi all...

Now that we've seen the banners rotating with every click for a few days, please let me know whether

1) You like it just like it is... rotating banners with every click or refresh.

or

2) You'd prefer if the banner stayed up there for 10 minutes prior to rotating to the next banner.

I like that it changes at each click. It gives us a variety of images in a short scope of time if we so choose to refresh every few seconds.

Me, too! Each click is nice ... could you change every five minutes rather than 10?

I prefer every 5 or 10 mins, only cause there's a transition moment after posting and the banner is only there for barely at all before it's gone. I can't pause, cause it's an automatic transition moment. Feels like driving by something cool, but the driver won't take me back to look. If that makes sense, lol.

i like it per click. i dont know how many images are in the queue but i've seen some more'n once already.

there are something like 350 total images, 175 of them are general art/photography, the balance seasonally specific and have been split into the seasons to rotate in with the art/photography during that particular season.

I, too, have been seeing repeats and i was hoping not to see so many repeats.... because there are many banners i haven't yet even seen, which prompted a conversation with the code writer, eyelidlessness, about randomness and math and a new deck of cards every pull for each user like at a gambling casino and # of users, etc... his answer was the only way to assure no repeats is to track users ... sigh... it's all above my head. I'm probably giving too much information... and not enough information all at the same time.

Sorry the poll feature isn't working right now but at the end of this survey, I'll count the votes and figure out whether to leave it like it is or change it to change every few minutes instead of every click.

Every ten minutes would be the best of those two choices. That way you'd
be able to enjoy the art a little more before it is gone. Changing banners less frequently, like once a day, would also be good.

I noticed that this announcement is duplicated on my column "Life in the Horse Lane". Is that announcement supposed to be there, too? When I commented there, I also was posted on this duplicate announcement.

Yeah, this post was meant to be duplicated... there's a new feature called "global announcement" and when I post one of those, it appears at the top of all the forums. I wanted everybody to see it so I could get as many of the members' opinions as I could. Pretty cool feature! I probably won't use it often but sometimes it will be very useful.

I thought about rotating them daily.... and that's possible, too... but some people don't come here every day, they only come here once a week or once a month or once every blue moon, and I really do want the rotating banners to be an interesting visual feature to the site. If the rotate daily, it wouldn't be like a feature ....

but definitely changing banners lest frequently is an option, too.... that's what I'm trying to find out here... whether you guys think it's too fast as it is. Thank you for telling me you do!

since judih hasn't stopped by this thread yet, I wanted to add to the thread that I've spoken with her and her vote is to change the banners every 10-15 minutes.

I vote to change it with every click.

The banner feature is really starting to grow on me.

Just spoke with Cecil (mtmynd). He would prefer the rotation to be slower. Every click is too fast, in his opinion.

When I asked him which he'd prefer, he said:

after using the rotation for a few days I must say it's too fast for me. i prefer to digest each banner for awhile before moving on.
