Yechh!

So this is what happens when you try to change your skin! Just read your posts on AC this morning, Doreen. I am so glad you got S-8 up and running again.

Last night I thought it was my computer screwing around. It's been doing that again lately.

Anyways, I'm glad you're back! :D

I'm a techie dummy. I couldn't figure out why I couldn't change the banner like I've done every day for over a year. It's not appearing. So, I tried to upgrade the skin and that didn't work. There was weird code on the page. I did something wrong. So, i tried to upgrade the forum software (even though I just did that recently after we were hacked, they have a new update already) and when I did that, sure that I followed all the steps perfectly, there was still no banner, a lot of garbled code all over the page, and I couldn't log in to even get to the admin panel. It was a mess and I got frustrated and in a panic, messaged our host and asked them to restore the site from their last back up and luckily they were able to do that and here we are! So, this morning, I tried to change the banner again and did the exact same thing I've done every day for over a year, same file name, same directory, same routine but the banner doesn't appear so we'll just have to live without one until I can either get someone to help me or figure it out. Whew!

Thanks for asking and sorry for the inconvenience if you hit the site and we weren't here.

The biggest lesson is exactly what Clay said in his post on Announcements. Everything is temporary. Even the internet. Sooooo.... if we ever go off the air permenantly because I haven't been able to find tech help (and I'm willing to pay for it), all should be aware that you never know and if you treasure your writings or conversations here, keep copies. *smile* (That was an extremely poorly written sentence but I can't figure out a way to edit it at the moment so I hope it sorta makes sense anyway.)
