I noticed when I clicked on my private message sent box, at the bottom of the page it said, "Your Sent box is 184% full." Wow! How could that be? I didn't know there could be more than 100% of anything!
So, I checked the board configuration and it was set to certain number of posts as maximum for the In box, Sent box, and Saved box, but apparently the software wasn't doing its job to put a cap on the number of messages which can be stored.
I went to the software help forum and someone suggested I change the configuration to a lower number, which I just did.
Plus, I cleaned out all my private messages, deleting all the ones I didn't want to save.
I hope the new configuration will work and once the pm boxes get 100% full, no more messages can be sent until they are cleaned out. My concern is that the pm feature could be used too much, thus increasing the size of our database, unnecessarily. The pm feature isn't meant to replace e-mail. Nor is it meant for archiving communications for a long period of time, between members. It's only meant for a quick way to communicate with each other here.
Could you all please clean out your private message folders, eliminating the messages you don't need? This way, we can reduce the database size and test the new configuration.
After you clean out the messages you don't need, if any of your pm boxes exceed 20 messages, please let me know, and I'll try again to figure out why the software isn't working right to accept a specified maximum amount of messages.
Thanks much!
