Zaar was never far from his master's side
He would call to him and always running
Tail wagging and a look of happiness on Zaar's face
The two were never apart for too long
Walks in the parks and in the fields
LOOK there goes a rabbit and off Zaar went chasing after it
Such joy did they bring to each other

I completely sympathize.
I remember well the tears I've shed
Over the loss of fourlegged devoted friends
Who greet a homecomer
Like no human can
Dancing and twirling at your feet
As if you've been gone a lifetime
No embarassment
No attempts at fake decorum
Unabashed delight
At the sight
Of me
Just me
A pat on the head
The only reward
They seem to require
Sometimes I wish I had a tail to wag
To show my happiness
And love
I remember well the tears I've shed

I used to walk with my head in the clouds but I kept getting struck by lightning!
Now my head twitches and I drool alot. Anonymouse

I don't believe in puppy dog heavenI remember well the tears I've shed
Over the loss of fourlegged devoted friends
Just one day walking in the Shenandoah Valley with a feisty little white bitch called "puppy dog" she weren't no puppy anymore but the name had stuck. Just one of those Maslow Moments:
Cool fall day sunshine and a gentle breeze. She was in puppy dog heaven. Ten years and sometimes I have to remind myself that she is dead. Her waveform has just collapsed . No I don't believe in puppy dog heaven any more. AS bizarre as it sounds she just slid over to a parallel universe
Ellinore Roosevelt on reincarnation paraphrase from memory
"I find it no more bizare that I showed up in another universe than I do that I showed up in this one."
I love that Thomas Mann short story A Man And His Dog sounds like Zaar
