Jimbo - :D I love you. So easy to say because it’s so true, I love people so much I had to shut them out entirely till I cleaned up my own act enough that I wasn’t destroyed when the potential I saw in them wasn’t lived, live and in vibrant pulsing rainbows of, living, breathing colors…

COLORED PENCIL ONLY

Yesterday I found an untouched set of colored pencils that came in a red maple box for a quarter of the price I would have paid in stores or online.

Cat Behind a Curtain…I won’t get into what the drawing means to me, so many people relate to it…I don’t want to distort the beauty they find in the piece…I completed the process of that work over ten years ago…not long after its completion I showed it to someone whose opinions I let weight too heavily on me. She told me that it would make a great lamp shade. I was drunk at the time… then I was drunk as often as I could be without losing my job… immediately interrupted her proclamation as ‘you are no artist and you shouldn’t have even bothered’ … before I was finished with my negative assumptions alcohol and stunted growth ripped the drawing almost in half and before she got the drawing away from my total annihilation I had balled it up to throw at her…caught…saved. The original has been taped, not with acid free tape, and pressed under books until it was wrinkle free enough to make prints. Only good came from all that…many people love the piece. I can never sell the original…not because no-one would buy it but I won’t sell it in the condition it’s in…this means I can produce as many prints as people want and I can continually share the beauty that evolved from small tragedies.

Why try to reproduce it? I won’t be able to reproduce the piece…some things can never be fixed…I know that after all this time, and all I’ve learned since… I can create what will be a much better piece…on acid free paper, with new colored pencils and knowledge I didn’t possess then…allowing the work to be all it was meant to be...no distortions from wrinkles, no fading over a short period of time, no tearing it apart over misinterpreted information…

Time
A glass of wine
No self pity fits
Just enjoying it
Because
All anything can ever be is
What it is
Lampshade or
Masterpiece
Enjoy

Your right about the paint…for this one colored pencil is the only way this will work. The repro will be more than eye candy…it will be an endless gourmet feast…much more than a sugar buzz. So that’s why I would go to the trouble of starting it over…I’m beyond the tease of a treat now and then…what I give is what I get…I want more than a sugar high…those can only end in a big unsatisfied crash.
