Studio Eight 5th Anniversary Party? - July 2009

Post by Doreen Peri » April 29th, 2008, 5:37 pm

On July 10, 2008, we will have been online for 4 years! Wow! Pretty cool, huh?

I was thinking maybe we should start talking about planning a 5 year Anniversary Party for July 2009.

What do you think?

We could select a central location (though that might be difficult since we have members all over the world, but still) – a place we all agree would be a nice relaxing place to meet for a weekend or even a few days longer if we want.

Maybe we could reserve a block of rooms at a sleazy motel. Or go camping? Plan a poetry & music event where we all can do our thing and otherwise hang out, party, have fun, write together, play music together, go out to lunch or dinner, cook together, eat together, dance together, walk on the beach together, hike in the mountains together.. or whatever. You know. BE together and commune ... like a real community. Maybe we could do an art show too. Or something. Somewhere. Another Cabaradio show? Or no show at all and just hang out.

I don't know whether this would be feasible or not. But I'm throwing it out there to see who might be interested in discussing a plan.

Let's use this thread to talk about it. Whatya think? Am I behind the 8 ball? Is this a gr8 idea or not?

I always thought a giant S8 camping trip would be a blast. However, I'm planning on bumming around Europe in the first half of 09, so I'll probably have to miss out.

Ummmm.... boho!!!! ... Jan - June is the first half of the year! But if you're still in Europe for July, let's all meet in Europe!

:D

I crack myself up. Would be nice, actually.

Seriously would love to meet you!

We'll see if anything materializes in this thread for anything more than dreaming. ;) And if you have to miss it, we'll miss you!

A giant camping trip would be a blast for sure!

Better Baltimore than Philadelphia.

I am planing on a trip to the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia next year

And if the time will allow, to visit the ancestors' graves in Baltimore.

W. C.Field's epitaph
"Here lies W. C. Fields. I would rather be living in Philadelphia."
or sometimes quoted as "Better here than in Philadelphia."

You're coming to the Shenendoah Valley next year? Cool! Let me know when. Let's do lunch. ;) I'm only an hour from there.

I think should, of course, be decided first. I 'm all for camping, however. I think setting up a camp spot would be awesome. no planning of a huge event or coordinating with studios and gallerys and all that headache. Not to mention that wherever the location should be, there is always beatiful campgrouds.

hehe... tent service!

Sure! ;)

Hey wouldn't you all like to come to Virginia and get a chance to visit all the totally free art galleries and museums and maybe hit an open mic in the city, then go back out of town and stay in a cabin at a lovely park on the potomac river (some of us) and some of us stay at a hotel if we want and come to my house for a poetry party one night?

Just an idea..... Just wonderin'

I mean, DC has such rich culture and so many wonderful free things to do and I'd like to serve you a cocktail on my deck.

I know my house isn't the center of the universe... but hey... it should be right?

:P
