This Weekend on SpiritPlants Radio (November 2008)

Hello everyone,

This coming weekend, SpiritPlants Radio http://yage.net:9000/listen.pls, the online radio station that hosts my “Within’s Within: Scenes from the Psychedelic Revolution,” celebrates five years on the air. About a month ago, I decided this would be the perfect time to expand the station’s programming schedule.

Toward this end, a variety of shows were conceived to embody the psychedelic ideals upon which the station was conceived. Put briefly, passionate & meaningful freedom & individual expression. SpiritPlants Radio re-launches on November 22, 2008 at midnight (Pacific US time).

Any online project needs an updated & coherent website. SpiritPlants Radio’s website can be found at http://spfradio.yage.net. On this site is the current schedule & links to listen live, as well as links to the station’s blog, forum, chat, & song history.

Highlights of this re-launch weekend’s programming include:

• New & classic episodes of my radio show “Within’s Within: Scenes from the Psychedelic Revolution”
• New & original SpiritPlants Radio programming including “Japan is
Dumb: the Exotic Musical Stylings of DJ Lain” & “Electronica by DJ
Veronica”
• “Psychedelic Lectures” featuring Terence McKenna’s True Hallucinations
• “Comedy Hour” featuring Bill Hicks
• “Long Live Rock!” featuring Pink Floyd live in Stuttgart, 1970
• “Jazz Café” featuring John Coltrane live in Stockholm, 1963
• “Storybook Time” featuring Jack Kerouac’s On the Road
• “Old Tyme Radio” featuring two episodes of the classic chiller Lights Out
• “News Hour” featuring Democracy Now’s Amy Goodman interviews with Naomi Klein & Cornel West

I am seeing this weekend’s programming as a six-week experiment through the end of the year. Your feedback (spiritplantsradio@gmail.com) will be greatly appreciated in helping to determine how well it goes, & what works (& what doesn’t).
