Sorry for the downtime and change of the "look"

Post by Doreen Peri » June 27th, 2017, 1:16 pm

The site went down since we were running an old version. I guess that's why. The host kindly restored the site. Unfortunately. the customized style and rotating banners are now missing. Hopefully it can be restored but I can't guarantee it.

Welcome back.

I'm just relieved it was a temporary outage, and not a forever one (so soon after the most recent)

Me too, Sasha!

Looks like this is the "look" (style) we will have to live with. There's no way to restore the custom changes including the rotating banner show, at least right now. I'd have to hire someone to do it.

It was lovely while it lasted!

At least we have all of the old posts and on a positive note, we are now running a current version of the software, thanks to our host, plus we now have a secure https connection. I'm grateful for their help!

If anybody knows a techie who is familiar with phpBB software who wants to volunteer to help in the future, let me know.

:)

Thanks, Ray. But I didn't do anything other than have a conversation with the host. They fixed it plus upgraded the software and edited some security settings. I'm grateful!

I'll miss the rotating banners.... but I'm glad we're back!

I was worried about that, too, mingo.

So glad we're back, but now i have another concern. The spambot custom security puzzle we had at the registration is also gone. We've had several new names register just within the past couple of hours. Are they bots? Guess we'll find out. Sigh... Hope not.

I'm going to have to figure out how to decorate this place a little bit, anyway. It's so blue! Maybe I can put a logo in the corner or something. Something. :)

Thanks, Judih. :) I'll see what I can do. Probably the only thing I can do is to put a logo in the top left corner.

Need to find someone to install a better spambot stopper.

Sorry for all the bots. This is becoming a babysitting job to get them all deleted as they come in. The bot-stoppers provided with this software don't work.

We need a better bot stopper and I don't know how to add one.

If anybody knows a techie who's familiar with phpBB software and who's interested in helping, please let me know.
Thanks!

It's seriously getting ridiculous!

Please do NOT click on ANY links posted by anyone you don't know, including links in the signature section of the user's posts. Most of the new "members" are not real people. They are spam bots!

Thank you!
