When it comes to atoms, language can be used only as in poetry. The poet, too, is not nearly so concerned with describing facts as with creating images. –Niels Bohr
A writer should write with his eyes and a painter paint with his ears. –Gertrude Stein
A photograph is a secret about a secret. The more it tells you the less you know. – Diane Arbus
You Are Invited
to the "8 Images in Search of a Poet" Collaborative Book Event. The title of this event was inspired by the title of Luigi Pirandello's play, "Six Characters in Search of an Author."
When?
For one week!
Sunday, November 5, 2006 3PM EST (12 noon PST)
Sunday, November 12, 2006 3PM EST (12 noon PST)
What?
We are creating a collaborative book featuring the black & white artwork, photography, and poetry of Studio Eight members. The deadline for submissions has been extended until November 15, 2006. This event is part of the submission process. If you have already contributed submissions to the book, that's fine, we still hope you will participate in this event. The poetry you post during the event will be additional submissions for you. When you post during this event, you agree to allow Studio Eight dot TV to publish your post, if selected, in our first collaborative book. Please visit our Community Projects forum to read more about the book – http://studioeight.tv/phpbb/viewforum.php?f=54
Where?
at Studio Eight dot TV http://studioeight.tv/phpbb
A special forum called "8 Images in Search of a Poet"
will be at the top of the page.
How?
How will the event work? Eight pieces of artwork or photography will be selected from the book submissions and posted as the first posts of eight separate threads. Please take a look at the images and if you have a poem on file which you have written which you think compliments the image as a companion piece, post it to the thread. If the image inspires you to write verse which could work well in print as a companion piece for the image, post your new poems. Also get inspired by the words others are posting in the thread and jam off of those. Enjoy!
Hope to see you there!
