"And in the end, the love we take is equal to the love we make."
–John Lennon/ Paul McCartney

You Are Invited
to "The Portrait of Love Image-ination Art Jam"

When?
For one whole week!
Sunday February 11, 2007 3PM EST (12 noon PST)
until - Sunday, February 18, 2007 3PM EST (12 noon PST)

What is It?
This is a collaborative experimental internet event
for visual artists, photographers, writers and others
who love collaborative artistic efforts and enjoy viewing
the interpretations of the same topics by various
different artists.

How Will it Work?
We will have multiple "Portrait of Love" threads being
posted spontaneously & collaboratively.

You can start a thread by posting a photo (headshot portrait)
of someone or something you love at the top of the thread.

Examples – yourself (yes it's ok to love yourself), your spouse
or partner, your children, your pets, your ancestors, etc.

Others will view your photo and DRAW, PAINT, CARTOON,
or otherwise create a representation of their experience,
INCLUDING DIGITAL EFFECTS using photoshop or another
photo manipulation application of the original image, then
post their artistic interpretations to the thread!

When you see an initial post by someone else, you, as the interpretive
artist, can create a drawing or painting or cartoon of the loved subject
in the initial post and either take a photo of it or scan it and post your
rendition!

AND you are very welcome to write poetry or comment
with a storyline based on your perception of the original image.

This will be a creative collaboration!

Who?
You, who believe in and love the process
of love, you who realize that artistry is not only
an ambition but the only viable means to reaching
who you are, you who always knew it is better to partake
than to abstain, you who know the main reason for love
is the being of it.

Why?
Because you are only limited by the endless
possibilities of your image-ination! Because you
cannot afford to miss it! You wouldn't dare!

at Studio Eight dot TV

Sounds like an original and exciting group collaboration, Doreen. The specific idea of headshots will make for some fantastic continuity.

time to peel out my camera and shoot.

great! wonderful - i like it.
i'm in!

i just wished it wouldn't start so late on sunday (night for me) - it's so much harder to take pictures when it's dark, as the flash tends to distract the perecption of the lines...

but then, there'll be the whole week to participate. i won't have much time apart from the weekdn, but i'll try to sneak on as often as i can...

i love the concept.

judih - see you there!

panta - yeah it's a whole week so i'm hoping despite people's busy schedules, they'll come by and participate when they can.... and you've just got to be here!

jimbo- I'm going to change the announcement to include digital renditions of the original post. This way those without scanners or cameras can also participate by adding filters and effects to the original post using photoshop or another photo manipulation application. Sound like fun? Hope so! Plus, you can always reply with words.... and post your images to start threads. AND why not draw even though you can't scan and post to the threads later on when you do get a scanner or camera? We won't lock it up. It could potentially go on forever! (if there is such a thing as forever on the internet! lol)

......

Looking forward to this everybody!

Does the original photo have to be of a person? Like, would a head shot of a statue work?
