Hey Ray! Oh yeah! love Jim's work! Thank you, Jim!!! I got your email, too!

And yes... there have been quite a few submissions which aren't appearing in this thread. They've been emailed to us. Hope you send something in, too!

We've received some really fine works and there are also 2 more weeks before the deadline! I'm so excited about this project! Thanks to all who have contributed!

The process currently stands at an Oct 31st deadline but that I'm also thinking of asking members to peruse the boards for poetry & artwork they would like to see in the book so we can contact the members who posted excellent work(s) and I have another idea, too, for poetry companion pieces for the art/photos submitted. More on that later.

The submission/contribution process is a learning process as this is our first book but it is definitely destined to be great book!

>>>

To all who have not yet sent in material, please do so soon, OK?

Email your work to

studioeightbooks@aol.com

Hey Doreen,

I'm very interested in helping with the editing process. But I don't sell my work (it's a personal thing).

Is there deadline when the editors will see all the submissions and make their collective choices? I'm still hoping to help if my help is still needed :)

Raymond

Ray...

Nobody's selling their work.

Seriously. What's to sell?

We'll create a document and we will pretty much pay cost for owning copies. It will be a document. That's about it. The cost to produce these books will be paid to CafePress.

This is not a money-making endeavor.

It's for creating something together... a collaborative effort. It's just going to be a document which we all can own and anybody else who we know who is interested can own.

I wish I could promise that some major publisher would pick this project up and offer ad campaigns and distribution plans.

Right now, this is really just an in-house project. At least for the moment, anyway.

Studio Eight dot TV is not a major publishing company or anything! Or even a minor one, for that matter.

We're just a little rinkydink side bar on the internet superhighway where many talented artistic people hang out and I thought it would be cool to create a print document to incorporate the works by the talented people here. I would just like to create a document or 2 or 3 (etc) in print in addition to the documents created by this elusive media called the web.

I like holding a document in my hand and reading it and being able to pick it up off my bookshelf in 5 years or 10 years or 20 years, etc.

We're simply putting our work together in a collaborative effort to make a new "something" and I hope that all who are involved in the project will feel that this "something" is a good thing.

The deadline for submissions from participants is October 31st. After that (date unknown at this moment... a month later? just a guestimate...), a manuscript will be put together from all the material which has been submitted. After that? If the manuscript is ample (enough content), it will be shared with those who are reviewing it and we'll go from there..

Thank you for offering your help!

yeah, so good to hear that work is being e-mailed in.
i've got something up my sleeveless sleeve as well. But school's draining me of thinking and doing time. Saturday's my big present moment.
Got a bit of time left till the end of October. Let's hear it for an energized submission process (hear, hear)

Hi judih!

Yes, some submissions are coming in.

We have many more pieces of art & photography than we do poems, however.

I hope people submit more poetry and would also like to ask members to look through the poetry posted on the site for poetry they'd like to see in the book. Maybe we should start a thread for this.

Also, it would be cool to have an event using the contributed artwork & photography posted at the top of threads and ask people to write "companion pieces" on that thread, then select a poem from the thread to publish in the book to accompany the image. I don't think we can do this type of event until after we've reviewed the manuscript and selected images.

What do you think of this?

Anybody have any other ideas?

It will be a very small book unless we get some more poetry submissions. *smile*

Small is OK but I'm still looking for more submissions.

I haven't even looked through my own material yet. I hope to put something of my own in the book, too. ;) I'm very deadline oriented. I'll probably wait until the last minute. LOL!

Looking forward to yours, judih!

yes!

collaboration is wonderful.
i agree with dor. An image at the head of a thread and then poem responses.

Aside from those of us who are already scheming up some combinations, it will be good to jam to the images.

Some of cecil's streams also offered poetic responses. There's a lot of material here at the STUdiO already

th past 30 years,

and would not be happy if one or more of them were edited out
they are an as·sem·blage
and have personal meaning
taken as a whole

well then if the drawings are to be selected, the chaff culled from the rye,
i would definately delete the two life drawings and use the personal ones that have meaning to me.
