Let's play "Name That Book" - suggest titles here

Post by Doreen Peri » October 30th, 2006, 8:36 pm

I had posted this on another thread (the book binding options & book size options thread), but panta suggested a start a new thread for naming the book so here it is.

I'll go back to the other thread and copy the suggestions people posted there to this thread.

Looking forward to your ideas for a name!

2 – Let's play "Name That Book"

So.... the idea of the book is to showcase the talents of S8 members in a collaborative anthology. Some of the poems will illustrate the images and visa versa. All of the interior images (art & photography) will be black and white. The front cover will be full-color art or full-color photography.

We had talked about setting the book up with a theme which had to do with the number 8. This is arbitrary and not necessary. Just an idea, that's all. We could have 8 sections for the book, for instance.... 8 section titles which could be moods or ideas or colors or song titles or etc etc.. you get the idea. Your ideas along these lines would also be appreciated.

And now that you know what the book is all about.... Let's name it, OK?

Please add your title ideas to this thread.

Thanks for joining in!

Previously.... in another thread...

judih suggested
Studio 8 Presents

infinity up

studio 8: raising hell forever

the headless snowman

loop

judih responded and said
names: i like loop. i've always liked loop. but if so, we need to use it in the dedication or somehow reference it throughout the book.

If we 'raise hell' - we need to pick poetry accordingly!
i think 'raising hell' might be better left to the politicians who are so adept at it.

I suggested
Infinity Sideways

That's it so far.... please post your suggestions for a name for the book to this thread. Thanks!

loop sounds so technical and didn't say much to me.
But I can adopt it!

I'm for a paraphrasis of weird infinito

what about "8 Ways To Breathe" or "8 Ways to smile" something like that. Or perhaps borrow from Yoko Ono and call it "Half an 8" life from her "Half a Room" show that Lennon sponsered in the late 60s.

"8 ways to breathe" isn't bad, especially since eight is he atomic number of oxygen.

or "infinity exhaled", with a stilistic profile face exhaling a sideways eight on the cover, the words of the title forming the figure eight.

or "infinite breathing", with the sideways eight being formed by two faces inhaling from and exhaling into each other....

or "infinite tide" (tide is like breathing in and breathing out, afterall.... or "breaths of tide", or "tides of breath", or "eight tides to breathe".... wait! "sigh out tide" -- this is a perfect anagram of "studio eight"!)

"sigh out tide - eight ways to breathe"
"infinity exhaled - studio 8 tides expressed"
"word tides - infinite poetry"

... ah! i could get carried away from here!

speaking of anagrams -

here are some more of "studio eight":

hugest idiot (!!!)
diet is tough
egoist ID hut
gist hideout
sigh out edit
tough tidies
idiot set hug
die out sight
tough ID site
hugs do tie it
studio get hi
got it - hide us!

(... and "infinity sideways" anagramed:

infinity is swayed
tiny wise day finis
identify a winy sis'
a windy yeti's finis
if tiny, sway inside....

ha ha!)

Eight To The Bar
.............. Infiniti Sideways

Over The Eight
............... Infiniti Sideways

Behind The Eight Ball
.............. Infiniti Sideways

Visually, Infiniti Sideways would be tabbed in underneath the Title whatever eight title. I had to use ...'s for the blank spaces in the post because I don't know how to put in 'tabs' in a post, but you have the idea.

Opps - a couple more:

Pieces Of Eight
.............. Infiniti Sideways

Dinner At Eight
.............. Infiniti Sideways

my personal favs:

No. 1 - Eight To The Bar
No. 2 - Dinner At Eight

Wow!

Great titles, you all!

I wonder how many items you can put in a poll here?

I should email one of the people who runs this place so I can find out.

lol

Thank you! keep 'em comin' if you're so inspired!

8 is the atomic number for oxygen? who knew? I guess you did, panta! I really like yours and yours, too, Deb! Great anagrams, too...

And izzy? Good ones! But where's your contributions to the book, huh? Wouldn't be a real studio eight book without you being represented, now would it? You too, Arcadia!

& thanks for all the anagrams, panta!

studio get hi... heh...

get hi on art ;)

I'm just for having it simply entitled "8".
