Here in Earl's Court there is a local I've seen walking the streets regularly, dressed in full camoflage outfit. He's like a tramp or something. I've seen him sitting against walls and bumming cigarettes on side streets. I don't know what his deal is. Maybe he's an ex pat, proud enough of his military participation to uphold his personal history through his clothes. Maybe he's had some trouble on the streets and thinks that dressing in full army gear will make him look sufficiently hard to dissuade potential thugs from assailing him. I don't know about that logic. I think that some thugs like to take on such a challenge, rise to such a show of bravado. I would have thought that dressing to exude hardness would be more of an invitation for trouble that a deterent. But anyway, I didn't want to give him any trouble, so I just bumped into him and said "oh sorry, I didn't see you there".
