Let's hear it for Congress

Post by sasha » February 17th, 2018, 3:03 pm

Another mass shooting, 17 children who will never become adults, 34 parents burying their young....

But it's okay, because the GOP (sitting comfortably on the NRA's lap) has an endless supply of Thoughts and Prayers to make it all better. And it's a whole lot easier to bow their heads and beat their breasts than to grow a pair and actually try to DO something.

Spineless fucking assholes.

Pretty much.

And there's more...
A Florida representative's aide lost his job Tuesday after sending an email to a reporter falsely alleging that two students who survived the Florida school shooting -- and were speaking out on TV -- are "actors." Benjamin Kelly, who worked as a secretary for Florida State Representative Shawn Harrison, emailed a Tampa Bay Times journalist with: "Both kids in the picture are not students here but actors that travel to various crisis when they happen."
Where do these people come from?

An indictment made public on Friday by Mr. Mueller as part of the investigation into Russian interference in the election mentioned a Russian Twitter feed, @TEN_GOP, which posed as a Tennessee Republican account and attracted more than 100,000 followers. Messages from this now-deleted account were retweeted by the president’s sons and close advisers including Kellyanne Conway and Michael T. Flynn, the former national security adviser.

I'm fucking done with this country when it comes to guns. Not that I wasn't already. Surviving students of the FLA school shootings are receiving death threats, and the goddamned NRA is predictably vomiting up the same shit as they always do, claiming that the mentally ill should have the "personal freedom" to buy assault rifles off the shelf... Yeah. Merry f*****g Christmas.

I've heard many stupid notions uttered by the NRA and their lackeys, but their recent (recurring) assertion that teachers be armed is quite possibly the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Teachers packing heat? For fuck's sake, they're woefully underpaid as it is - and now we should be assigning them to combat duty?? Of slightly more sense is the suggestion that armed security guards be posted in schools - but who shall pay for this? The schools already account for a large fraction of our property taxes (which here in NH are outrageously high) - adding in the cost of well-trained security personnel will send many of us into foreclosure. All because some among us think it's their god-given right to buy military hardware no matter who might be put at risk......
