My mind is still fairly sound

Post by gypsyjoker » January 29th, 2019, 1:00 am

After eight hours of listening to the cacophony of a 50 electronic cash registers beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep...
and the crying children, shrieking babies, and the Muzak™
the man behind the blue curtain in the big box store preparing income tax returns
is autominated? is that a word for knuckle-dragging mental exhaustion?
After taking several readings
I'm surprised to find my mind's still fairly sound
willie nelson

oh yes:
they say I was a rebel until I reached the age of five
then I got caught up in the struggle for the legal tender
then it came to me one rainy August morning like a flash
we might all wake up tomorrow in a pile of smoke and ash
lyrics from a songwriter who used to work at a Sambo's™ in Atascadero California, circa the nineteen seventies,

white freight liner steal away my mind

back in the sixties in the psych department of the U of MD they called for volunteers for an experiment, can't remember the details, if it was noise or pain they subjected the volunteers to but one Japanese student managed to stay in the testing cubicle so long they just stopped the experiment. Afterward, they asked her how she was about to tolerate the unpleasant stimulus for so long and she answered: "I took my mind away."
