As an ex-bluegrass band member ( ex- from dozens of bands, some of them not vomitoriously bad . . .) and a mandolin/guitar player, these jokes about the loudest and most assertive of instruments ( stringed) is a little tickle:

Mason Williams, (one of the writers for the Smothers Brothers used to talk about Banjo pickers in his "Them Poems", my "much older" brother and I had the opportunity to get drunk with Mason, Tommy Smothers and Glen Campbell many many years ago)....here's one of my favorites
