Ah, I got ya--gotta keep the "niceness" and "good karma" quotient in place, just like at 'ol lit-kicks....
Though crass, it's really an effective, and, yeah, harsh satire of the English royal family, which has for centuries enslaved and exploited millions of people. I really don't care either way, but I think you are better off permitting ugliness, satire, and even porn rather than censoring--especially when the objects of the satire are worthy of it . And when did taste become a matter of popular vote? (the Bush victory shows how ludicrous relying on a popular vote is, doesn't it).....

Satire is welcome.
Unlike the United States of America, I'd like this place to be a democracy.
That's why I expressed my opinion, then asked others what theirs were and posted a poll.
Unlike the United States of America's polling, this poll will be fair and untampered with.
This place has nothing... absolutely NOTHING to do with Litkicks and if people want to refer to that site, they are certainly welcome, but please do it in the appropriate place. That's what the Other Arts Sites forum is for.
My questioning of whether this piece you posted is Art or not, has nothing to do with "niceness" or "good karma".
It has to do with whether this is Art or not. Period. And it also has to do with my desire, as owner of this site, to get feedback from the community members regarding what they want to see here.
As Mark said and as I said, there are plenty of places on the internet to share this type of humor. I'm just not sure if this is one of them.
I open this site to ugliness, humor, satire and harsh realities.
No porn, though. Sorry. I don't want want porn here. There are literally thousands if not hundreds of thousands of porn websites. That's what their for. That's not what this place is for because porn is not Art and this place is about the arts.
Soooo..... as I said before, I know this image you posted is not porn and we will both agree, I'm sure, that in spite of the satirical representation of the British crown, the image is in poor taste.
Maybe you don't agree with that. I donno.
Go ahead and vote on the other thread I posted.
You are a community member. You have a vote.
Relying on popular vote to determine what type of content the community members want isn't ludicrous at all. It's democratic.
Thanks.

By the way, there IS another forum here for Humor.
It's called.... "Humor."
Clever, huh?
So, had you posted this piece in the Humor forum, my take on it might very well be different.
This forum is called "Visual Arts."
Maybe I'll just move it to the Humor forum and drop this discussion entirely.
I wouldn't debate that it was funny. It cracked me up.

I just went ahead and moved this to the Humor forum.
What I was debating was that in my opinion it wasn't "Art" and didn't really belong in the Visual Arts forum.
So, I moved it.

I suppose you have a better sense of humor than me, I suppose I am a literal, strange thing for a son to look on his mothers withered body, all that flashed into my mind is Alamo Rose on her death bed and me trying to comfort her, a job for my baby sister, but she numb with grief and guilt, mostly guilt. the sight of her naked breasts still an after image. like that little girl with the glass shard in her eyeball laying in the middle of interstate ten west of Phoenix. I can't help thinking of the after images of our returning veterans, like my old trucking partner who could not watch a slasher movie.
sorry to be a party pooper, I just can't share your laughter, a personal problem my part, nothing to do with anything.

If you call that satire then you don't know what satire is.
It isn't satire in the least.
It's an ugly attack on an dead old lady.
Some people probably feel as if they gain some sort of empowerment over females from looking at stuff like that and uncorrectly defending it as "satire".
It's really just another form of misogyny.
And misogynists are sick people.

LOL!
I just saw this! (been busy with holiday company).
Having worked in a rest home for a long time, it's a familiar sight. Heh, it speaks volumes to me, but then again, my work with the elderly has spoken volumes to me too.........
Dig?
Thanks Perefrere...
