Wayapiersenwah or Blue Jacket, Shawnee Chief.
Some say his European name was Marmaduke Van Swerigin, Dutch and captured as a teenager by the Shawnee. Whatever his birth, Wayapiersenwah was a exceptional warrior and helped lead a force of old northwest native tribes to defeat two American armies sent by the newly established United States into Indian territory.
I do not know what he looked like, but imagined him as such in my painting.

dignity was the word that cross my mind while seeing your painting, Atehequa,... and I saw it later also in mingo´s post... hermoso retrato!!!!!
