Landscapes are always at their strongest when they verge on abstraction. I went to see an exhibit several years ago at the Albright Knox Museum in Buffalo New York, a short drive from here. It was the later works of Monet in Giverney when he was almost blind and they were superb and lush, and almost abstract.

This is way more than a "verge on abstraction." It's fully emerged in abstraction.... haha! It's totally abstract.
