Judih.... Breakfast would be nice! sure! Thanks for being invited. ;)

My sister corrected me and told me when I said I was going to paint a "table series", I was wrong. I was really going to paint a "still life" series. Hahaha!

"Wait!," she said. "You mean you're talking about painting things that sit on tables?"

"Yes," I said, "different types of tables. Dining tables, tables you study on, conference room tables, antique tables... just different types."

"Oh, I see," she said, "and will you paint the tables, too? Or just the things on top of them?"

"Both, but probably focus on the things on top of them," I answered.

"Doreen?"

"Yeah, what?" I asked.

"You are talking about painting still lifes. Those are still lifes. Even if you painted only the tables, without the things sitting on them, doesn't matter which you're focusing on. They're still lifes."

........

Hahahahahahahaha!~ :D
(of course I knew that... right? heh)

each is cool and interesting in their own right, but I really liked seeing all three together in a photo. I love the color elements of the vase, and the flowers seem to encircle each painting in an embrace.

looking forward to further 'still table' works!

You could do them on wood add legs. Sell them as tables. Would that make both you and your sister right?

don't know nothing about art
but it made me happy to see them.

mb - thanks very much... I learned something from this... next time I paint 3 at a time as a set like this, I'm going to use the largest canvas for the more detailed painting. I think this series would have worked better if I had turned the largest canvas horizontally and painted the "table for two" on the largest one and then painted the other two on the smaller ones. I appreciate your comments... I like the vases best myself... didn't think about how the flowers encircle/embrace each painting but that's a great observation! It takes me so long to paint paintings that I'm already sick of "still table" lifes.. hah! ... so going to do some cityscapes next.

stilltrucking ... I like that idea! To paint paintings directly on tables. Thanks for the inspiration! and I'm happy you're happy to see these.. thank you, Jack

I love them. Painted with such brightness and light and hopefulness. Very inviting. I think it is telling that the "your plate" is the largest of the three and seemingly of greater significance. The flowers umbrellaing the scene are delight and do much to sate the appetite...for love! May the meal be divine.

mousey.... i think they're a little sloppy. A sloppy lunch. Well, might taste good! hah!

thanks very much for pulling your chair up to the table. Good to see you! I appreciate your kind comments.
