Algonquin Dream.JPG
Red Canoe on the land
Empty coffin waiting
Black tree trunks in prayer
Lamenting lost brothers and sisters
Where will the eagle land
Build its nest
Raise its young

No is written in the sky
Carried on cold north wind
Leave the trees in the ground
Leave the fish in the water
Leave Algonquin to the raven
Leave Algonquin to the bear

Let the people walk softly
Pine needle carpet
Rest on the rocks
Look up into the rushing sky
Hear the pine song from above
See the chipmunk scurry below
The turtle at the shore

Algonquin rebirth
Breath deep the cold scent
Look far across the lake
Feel the north wind hard on your face
You've been here before

The painting has a Gauguin feel. I enjoyed seeing the painting & reading the poem.
