Wow thx for posting this, Cecil, and all the detail shots too. They were paintings all in themselves.

I too really like this work.

I like everything about it. The palatte is perfect and the spacial relationship of the blocks of color is great. I found it very interesting and very well done.

Thanks for sharing it with us.

man, i always dug this one. and mingo's right. the details are paintings in themselves. seems at least one of them was shown "upside-down" (is that possible?), which threw me off. just shows how much is packed into this work, and how many viewings it might take to begin to absorb it all.

it's been an "art-ful" week. lot's of final editing on my book (not really my 2nd one, but a hopefully enriched extension of the 1st- book # "1B"). and then opening night of my sister's painting exhibit last night. her work was stellar as always- richly-detailed realism shaded with and ensconced in "surrealistic" (generally dark) tones and settings. she painted a couple of my photos, and completely transformed them... good stuff.

Thx, Mark, and yes, some of this piece was painted "upside down", and even horizontally at times. This was the third and final of a series.

Good to hear about your book... sounds like you're doing something with "Roundscapes" what Whitman did with his "Leaves of Grass"... a continuing update. I've always thought that to be a good thing to do. You know I'll be waiting for the reviso, amigo.

...and a big Thumbs UP to your sister's gallery opening... always an event for any artist. I would like to see some pics of her work when you have a chance.

wow... ok, so that makes sense. the actual painting was done from different angles. never thought of that! the piece seems filled with a universal conscious moment, "instantaneous and eternal," so it seems..

yeah, my sister is actually doing quite well with her art, though the last two years have been tougher (with the bushco-imploded economy). here's a link to her latest stuff. i don't think she'd mind:

this link of your sister's artwork is excellent! Kudos to Linda for eye-popping work! How long has she been painting?

thanks, cec. she's been painting all of her life, and producing this level of work for at least 20 years or so (man, time flies!), but the regular gallery gig downtown is only in the last 6, 7 years or so something like that. hard to crack that circuit for sure...

i wrote your painting into the book today. couldn't resist. so... you're painting fantastical interwoven shapes and souls when i show up. "what is it?" "a totem." "i didn't recognize it." "that's because it's upside-down"... also, i had forgotten to include the "don't begrudge us a little rain" admonishment from that rainy trip, so... no real names, of course. only the inspiration...
