I signed all the paperwork this past Monday, and am scheduled for surgery on Nov 2. I'd hoped for an earlier date, to get it over with before the snow flies - but that's the soonest they can work me in. I'll just have to deal with it as it comes. The scheduler promised keep me in mind in the event they have any cancellations, but there are too many other people involved to start yanking around with schedule changes - my daughter, my sister, my next-door neighbors - so as far as I'm concerned, the date is set in stone. Alea jacta est - let's do this. I've got a date with a solar eclipse in 2024, I won't get another one.

I hear ya about the golden years - it was smooth sailing for me until about 3 yrs ago, then I seemed to slam hard from middle to old age. Silver hair seems to have its perks - even had a pretty girl smile at me at the grocery store yesterday - but I'm more aware than ever that every day I wake up is a gift. And maybe that's one of the perks - a greater appreciation for inhale/exhale.

Best of luck, my friend, with your upcoming procedures. We're a couple of old cars spending more & more time in the shop to keep us running.

Speaking of which - anyone hear any word from the mingo?
