three examples of some quick acrylics drafts i did last month.... they're all small, about 18 x 18 cm ( about 7 x7 inches?), which makes it much easier to not think much about them and just paint away.
all acrylics on canvas, august 2006

Dear Panta:
I particularly like the downward gaze of the second one.
It looks a little like Isaiah Berlin . . .
Nice, free brushwork.
Alles gut!

i had a male patient last week
having pain
he wanted to take his t shirt off
so i helped him take it off
over the iv lines
then his wife wanted him to put on another clean t shirt
but he didn't want to
and got miffed at her
because shhe kept at it
all in spanish
finally i said
"you look like picasso!"
an he smiled
and said
"picasso es un pintor"
shaking his head, no
memories of faces

yes, zlatko, that one is my favourite one of that series as well.
thank you!
and now i'm trying to picture isaiah berlin without his glasses...
jim - even when there are no memories of faces, there are always memories in them.

Dave the Dov:
Try this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isaiah_Berlin
( paste)
"All forms of tampering with human beings, getting at them, shaping them against their will to your own pattern, all thought control and conditioning is, therefore, a denial of that in men which makes them men and their values ultimate."
— Isaiah Berlin, Two Concepts of Liberty
"The very desire for guarantees that our values are eternal and secure in some objective heaven is perhaps only a craving for the certainties of childhood or the absolute values of our primitive past."
— Isaiah Berlin, Two Concepts of Liberty

I, like DtD, favor #3... there is something 'Munch-ess' about it that causes me to stare.
me gusta, panta! thanks for sharing...

the "munch-ness" of the third one, you, cecil, and dave mention... very interesting.
someone else has told me it looked like ariel sharon! hm.
and then there's isaiah berlin, and another one that looks like dickens' fagin, i've been told (not posted) -- interesting collection of characters. i wonder where they all came from!
i shall paint some more and see who else is gonna come to my party.....

fagin
also acrylics on canvas, 18 x 18 cm, august 2006
artistically not relevant, a brush draft, merely; but interesting that he showed up...
