Picture of me standing with the Potomac river at my back. Part of a sailboat can be seen. A fifteen foot Lightning? A popular sailboat in Virginia they tell me. I just did something on GO about a foggy morning when I started it out it was clear as soon as I got to The Lady Bird Fountain it dropped like my droopy underwear with the bad elastic. And then a dead calm. No outboard, I was paddling my a$$ off trying to get away from a oncoming tug boat pushing a fuel barge up towards DC. One of these days I hope to get the Lightning, the Chesapeake Bay Sharpite, and the last one a 24' fiberglass tub. The first one no picture, a 11' Penguin. How many times did I capsize that one in that river. I knew a guy at Bolling who told me that they had an airman who drank a quart of river water on a dare/joke.
I capsized the Lightning too. The main sheet pulley thingy come off the boom. Trying to out run a storm that had come up river fast. Whitecaps and a fresh breeze. It was a great ride until the boom went in the water. A cop fell overboard trying to rescue me. I was standing on the center board when the harbour patrol came. I looked around as I heard a splash and this little blue cop hat came floating buy. not sure if I did a 1000 words. got dam machines. how many months have I been trying to post the pictures of those boats?
