My 360 panoramic from the peak of Ben Starav

Post by bennie2 » April 22nd, 2008, 3:12 pm

I'll post more photos once I get a chance to trim the file size down.

Ben Starav photo taken by me when it was still about 15 miles away.

I took 16 photos from the peak of Ben Starav and used Cannon's photostitch software to edit them together. I'm quietly impressed with the results considering I didn't have a tripod.

PS the black blob near the middle of the photo on the bottom edge is Stewart's hat

Image

I used the img code to post it here. (just click the Img button 2x and paste the URL of the photo in between the two Img tags)

This is stunning!

May I make a banner from this?

yes, doreen. Go right ahead and use it if you like.

My muscles are still burning from the climb. The dangerous traverse (the section in between the highest peak and the highest point from the left of the photo) was frightening and exhilerating. Would have thought that I'd liek danger? huh! Great fun! and the view?!

great panoramic bennie!!!!!!!!! :D

Ben Starav is an impressive mountain, its base reaching the shores of Loch Etive, therefore it arises from sea level. The summit of Ben Starav lies at the intersection of five craggy ridges. The longest ridge runs N then branches to enclose Coire da Choimhid. The most usual ascent route is from the path to Coileitir onto the E rim of Coire da Choimhid and S on the N ridge to the summit. The only other common route is on the E ridge to Stob Coire Dheirg and down to a bealach from where you can continue ENE to Glas Bheinn Mhor or SSE to Beinn Aighenan or descend N into the corrie to join the path back to Coileitir.

I´ve been thinking in the last days with the city full of smoke in your blueish-city-photo that was before this one!!!!! great one too!!!!!!!

wow that panorama is awesome
and what a strange landscape,
tundra
with a lake and cultivated green in the midst of this
unending desolation
and the bridge
the opening
old and formed into the color of moss
an entrance into the underground stream
a power spot

great hiking
