Murals in San Francisco

Post by Doreen Peri » August 27th, 2007, 2:40 pm

I took some photos of murals painted on the buildings in an alley (or small street) in San Francisco's Mission district. Thought you all might like to see them. :)

Well, I sent you an invitation! You didn't get it? heh ;)

Yeah, I went to the west coast near San Francisco for a week... last week.. just got back on Friday night.

I love street art, too! These are great!

I posted some more photos in the travelogue jam and still have more to post.

Thanks for looking, Kurt!

Did you get to city lights, and see Ferlinghetti?

We drove by City Lights... I took a few photos... impeachment signs in the window. I didn't go in. We had lunch across the street.

If I had known Ferlinghetti actually hangs out there, I woulda stopped and gone in. ;) Ya'think he really mighta been there?

When I was 16, I fell in love with his collection, "A Coney Island of the Mind." He was one of my most major first influences for writing poetry. I'll post the San Fran photos when I have time to sort them out. Soon, I hope. Cool city!

beautiful photos, Doreen! why are there walls we leave unpainted? i was in new england yesterday with the congregation i hope to serve...and i noticed it (before ever seeing your post here): their outside walls are totally bear. i mean, i know it's a church building and we of the Frozen Chosen aren't known for our bright urban decor, but why not? not even a cross. i wonder what that downtown street might look like, across from the pristine liberal university, with a giant wall or two of technicolor fags, whores, junkies, illegals, drop-outs, gangstas, towelheads, terrorists, infidels, Republicans, ACLU lawyers, etc. all standing around an teenage Asian image of Mary bringing her cleft-lipped toddler-God to the church's preschool?

if i paint it, i'll send you a photo. :)

these are inspiring photos! thanks!
