You captured thoughts of escape (and opportunity) well..
I'm still trying to work out the right deal with both.

know what I like about these?
these were all taken in 2004, when we first came to the states
that gives the photographs a sense of wonder and excitement. I remember the first time I was driven through a US city in July 05. My silly little UK sense of wonder at the size of the cars. The big wide lanes. the signs... it all looked so familiar, yet, so alien.
I'm really impressed by the sharp focus of that first shot considering you were in a car at the time.
I also really like the saturation and colour levels.

east west & all around...thanks JANET, a travelling lady, herself
mnaz...i thought these would appeal to you, being a man "on the road" & yes, the big wide world in a red convertable (if only!) and city hopping for what if's & maybe we'll live here one day...oh trust me, i don't have it figured out either. (ps. i might seem very cool & calm replying to this, but inside i'm really jumping up & down...a reply form mnaz...yay!

) *thank you, mister, she says trying to look all serious and graceful*
cecil...eXactly! wHat a coMbi-nAtion! haha
bennie...and where were you on the 4th of july ?

you haven't seen it all until you've seen the "red, white & boom" firework show in columbus, ohio (supposedly the biggest in the midwest, i think)...it's awesome! 45 minutes of sparkle in the sky. but yes, first time in the US is a TRIP! first off i had a mother of a jetlagged "hangover" after flying from south africa for 24 hours plus (not even mentioning the multiple airport stop overs...since then i've done it twice back & forth, of which the last time was by my lonesome...) and then it all had to be so much bigger! even the food. our first meal in the US was at IHOP in Dallas, Texas. Lord, bless this tiny tummy of mine

i've never seen someone eat a whole soup plate FULL of pancakes with syryp after a humongous platesized omlet (stuffed with meat) AND down a whole pot of coffee, before that. yes, to all your thoughts about experiencing the US for the first time. i felt like alice (in wonderland) reversed...or honey, i shrunk m'self.
thanks for enjoying.

Ahhh this brought back memories. Chasing the sunset across Arizona for the Grand Canyon. I loved the freedom your pictures represent. There is so much to explore and wonder at on the road. Thanks for sharing the feeling with me.
